what's wrong with my rig setup? I'm following this tutorial
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBy3V7qg7X0
and this is the state right before clicking "generate rig" (cunny warning)
https://files.catbox.moe/btdhlh.blend
but it always fails with "Bone Heat Weighting: failed to find solution for one or more bones", I've tried joining all meshes together, and it also fails maybe the topology is too messy? I went a bit wild trying to add detail, it's my first time doing this sort of thing
>>1029396 select mesh and armature scale up 10x parent with automatic weights unparent mesh, remove armature modifier reset scale (alt-s) on mesh and armature parent mesh to armature with empty groups (this actually reuses existing groups if they exist)
You're done! Auto weighting occasionally has trouble with meshes that are dense in world space, scaling takes care of it.
I'd also reset the mesh to world origin pivot before doing it, though, will likely get rid of some other bugs
>>1029489 Thanks but the topology is not very good, it's all over the place because I'm still new to this. In the end I wasn't able to capture as much detail from the original sculpt as I would have wanted.

>>1029490 topology is the hardest to learn and for being new to it you're doing pretty damn good already, just don't give up when it doesn't come out as you envisioned since that's always the worst feeling when you make something from you wanted
