I understand that, like, the TOC is decided in advance and it's (allegedly) taking into account reader rankings weeks and weeks ago

But genuinely, what is the plan with Under Doctor? It's the only series you push from it's batch, you give it color pages, having stock issues day one, and you're still putting it second to last place? I don't even read UD, but it's just confusing.

Like, I can understand Kinato being last. Like it sold 5k, which isn't great, but technically on par with Kiyoshi/Himaten/Shinobi's first volume in the same timeframe, but Jump obviously didn't have any faith in it. But they're pushing UD up and down at the same time

I just don't understand the thought process behind it. Why would Saito want to sabotage his own series? If UD succeeds, wouldn't he ultimately benefit from it? Especially when there are, like, 3 long-running series about to end. Maybe the Japanese are fucking weird, but it just doesn't make sense for him not to latch onto any semi-successful new series and go "look, I've only been here for 2 years, and already half of the successful series are mine."
