i tried rewatching it fairly recently and there was way more lazy panning and 3D CGI usage than i remember; my memories of this show is that it was good looking & well animated but every single time we get some sick sequence with his guns in the early episodes it's CGI slop.

It was a pretty entertaining complete adaptation of the manga once it finally came out, but that's it. There isn't really much left to discuss at this point, the spinoff is dead and even if you wanted to pivot towards talking about Drifters, it's on the same sort of hiatus hell that HxH is on. Possibly worse.

It's still pretty entertaining for what it is though.

Hellsing is one of those shows that gets better with each episode. Most of the deeper stuff is towards the end, and the strength of it is that is twists common tropes in interesting ways and has some of the best characters I have seen.

I'm not talking about passable. I'm talking about almost a pure upgrade. The dub is either equal to or better than the Japanese for basically everything and the major especially is a standout in the dub.
Having seen both his dialogue in the sub is incredibly repetitive but in the dub it is flat out inspired in multiple areas. If you don't believe me watch his monologue at the beginning of episode 10 right before the captain for both then come back to me.

I like Wakamoto in other stuff (pic very much related) and it pains me to say this, but I think the dub is better for Anderson. It just fits him better. But I'm also not the type of person who obsesses over Seiyus and I only know a couple by name. Wakamoto is one of the few I do know though.

Well Alucard's the seiyuu for Kotomine as well as Pucci, so he definitely compliments the "dark but related to religious people" thing for Alucard. But a Wakamoto fan still preferring the dub does speak volumes about the dub.
