These character designs are fucking terrible holy shit. If you're going to have the balls to go after the king (from a relative standpoint, not my own opinion) of indie animation, have something to swing with. The names of the characters tell me they're all the creators' personas, and fuck me, the voice "acting" is so dull. I like cynical characters, but the show needs to understand that what makes them enjoyable is when they're PUNISHED for their worldview, not supported. If an indie animation show is telling me that indie animation is shit while also panhandling, why the fuck would I give them money?
Also, I think it's in bad taste to shit on indie animation in the first place. There's definitely a lack of well done episodic stuff, but pulling a crab bucket isn't the way to solve that. It just feels mean spirited.

At least lore shit is interesting. What is it about "being a poor 20 year old learning about life" that makes some people dead set on it as a good concept? Animation can make anything happen and the extent of your creativity is that? I assume these people think their lives are interesting but I don't really give a shit about their life. This is the 6th time I've seen this concept and it never hooks me. Comparing yourself to other shows only makes someone think "I should watch that instead of this".

This show is described as Seinfeld meets Smiling Friends. So their whole concept is...friends that hang out and do friend stuff sometimes.

That roughly translates the whole elevator pitch to

It's actually kind of a common thing among students, they really want to be the showrunner but have no ideas. So all their concepts are basic level nothing that would allow them to be a showrunner to some degree.

i feel like it would take very little tweaking to make this seem more like a good-natured jab and less like griping. the main character just looks like such an unlikable asshole, that’s really the only problem.
aside from that, this guy seems like a decent animator and i’m always charmed when people put on some filters that make their ‘toon look like it was made on cels. i’m cautiously optimistic about this one.
