I'll start with, I have insomnia and cannot sleep. But, I can still lay down. I usually lay down on my side for 6 hours at night. I rotate sides every hour or so. When I lay on my back I get anxiety though. When I get up from laying down my back is sore. idk what to do for better recovery.

I've had success in the past drinking myself to sleep. Insomnia is hell. Feel better.

You need sleep, dude.
Try this.
Have a bit of greek yogurt and rice or bread at night and then supplement with magnesium glycinate, glycine, l-theanine, and melatonin (<3 mg).
In the morning, get up and get outside for some sunlight ASAP. The more sunlight you get, the easier you’ll sleep.
Then later in the day, walk for 45 minutes with no devices, no headphones. If you talk to yourself, let yourself talk yourself. You’ll find there comes a point where the talk is finished and you feel better.
If you do this routine, you will sleep better. I guarantee it. It almost fixed my insomnia completely and I was getting almost no sleep for years.

My restlessness is caused by me talking to myself and going over the day’s (and previous days’) events in my head. Conversations, decisions, what I should have or shouldn’t have said, etc. Since I didn’t give my brain time to think/process all this stuff due to always being glued to a screen, taking in information, I would do it the only time I wasn’t on a screen which is when I went to bed. And of course my sleep would suffer.
So let yourself talk to yourself and your brain process all this shit before you go to bed, not during. Made a big difference for me. Going to sleep calm vs going to sleep with my mind ruminating.
