Al-Andalus was very impressive because ultimately it was just native Iberians who converted to Islam and broke the shackles of the regressive Gothic rule under a new system and religion. When nafri chimps wrested power again with the Almohad and Almoravid dynasties, they destroyed everything good about it, which came entirely from Iberian Muslims and a small elite of Arabs who intermarried with Iberians for so long they were basically fully Iberian after a few generations.
