Geography is the number 1 factor regarding how wealthy a society can become.

All wealthy societies have these characteristics in common: fertile & plain soil optimized for cereals, which freed them from harsh agricultural works (it reverted the neolithic condition of 1 man eating for every 10 working to 10 eating for 1 man working, thus shifting man Power to industrial and intelectual work)
& Inland waterways & Rivers, which facilitates commerce commerce and social cohesion.

China, europe, japan, North América, they all literally meet this criteria and it's no Big mystery why they are wealthy & prosperous.

That doesnt mean a society without those geographic features can't achieves prosperity but it Will always be at a disavantage
