How would an Iran War have gone if Bush II really had bombed Iran in 2007? Would US capabilities at the time be enough?
It seems like there wouldn't be drones to worry about at the time and conventionally superiority would remain anyway. But then the coalition could absolutely not afford to fuck around with the international oil market and an already tenuous control of Iraq and Afghanistan.

>>65237239(OP) Total shitshow. Iran wasn't and still isn't as isolated as Saddam's Iraq not to mention the American public would never approve of yet another expansion to the war given the massive fucking insurgency in Iraq at the time.
>>65237239(OP) someways better, like no drones. some ways worse. doesn't really matter, iran would have probably flinged its shit at its muslim neighbors either way and fucked oil and normies to death no matter what.
>>65237239(OP) Would've been interesting to turn Iraq/Iran/Afghanistan into one war landmass. Wonder if some SOP from Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom with shared command would lead to interesting situations.

>>65237239(OP) Complete disaster rather than the brief funny we have now. Genuinely our of all the president post-reagan only Trump could have done a move like this against Iran, as either everyone else would have been gung-ho into boots on ground or would stop the second they got any pushbavk from congress. The fact that this didn't result in WW3 as everyone was hyping up any US attack on Iran would do is a feat in of itself

Fucking hated this mission in C&C where you have to deal with all the demotraps at the oil wells while doing micro on the bridges.
>>65237362 I remember hearing this a lot at the time even in the military that the whole plan was to use Afghanistan and Iraq as bases to invade Iran. I don't believe for a second that the movie 300 didn't get some additional funding and all those Iranian posters on 4chan were legitimate.
>>65237856 There were plenty of limited strikes campaigns over time, Iraq in 98 being the most memorable.
The interesting thing is that the US doesn't really need the F35 in this conflict and already had the B2s. If it needed more stealth coverage it would actually be the last campaign of the F-117 Nighthawk (retired from active service 2008).

I hope Gaza gets razzed to the ground and turned into a parking lot. That'll be their just reward for teaching democrats "a lesson".

I actually wonder if the US Navy might have been more confidence in 2007 with its ECW measures. It was really odd that ships weren't constantly sailing through the area considering that Iran has at multiple times over the decades tried and failed to lock onto US naval vessels.
