In reality, if you can make T800s with superhuman aim, they'll outperform a human being in every way.

Our monkey brain instantly recognizes a human silhouette and is alerted so no a humanoid form isn’t the best technically for warfare but might end up that way because we evolved into bipedal creatures for mobility reasons. A true killer robot design would be more unassuming to look less dangerous and not be spotted on instinct. It could also go a totally psychologically fucked up route and look like children or crying all the time or something. The last thing they’ll be is large imposing skeletons with red eyes that say please shoot at me I’m dangerous.

Depending what weapons they have. Probably it would be regular guns with limited ammo, in case of which you could send wave after wave of mobiks at them until they run out of ammo and then send your killer robots to mop up.

I think weapons that can btfo these things are not that hard to make. it's just about establishing manufacturing plants and supply chains. So I think they would exist alongside humans as a disposable stormer or support gunner. It carries the heavy shit and draws fire. It is a threat but if you replace everyone with one of these, everyone will just build bigger guns. What we have today are downgrades of what we had 100 years ago because we didn't need that much stopping power. If there are humans with the occasional terminator, you will not be as able to justify switching to standardizing heavy weapons capable of smoking a terminator. Terminators would take over roles like artillery and anti tank gunners. Roles where the weapons cause brain damage to the operators.

this is completely true . Skynet was basically a malfunctioning aegis combat system. It judged its allies as its enemies through logical fallacy. Most of the things it created used human collaborators in the design process.

Skynet's most dangerous assets were HK Aerials and Tanks, but these were very few in number and a good IED or missile strike could knock them out.
T-800's only showed up when the war was all but lost for Skynet in the first place.
You know how you often see them stomping around without artificial skin? That's Skynet doing a last ditch attack with their few remaining units, T-800's are explicitly infiltration units and by standard are supposed to have artificial flesh/skin.

Its long been retconned, but the terminators were never originally infantry. The bulk of skynets forces were the giant tanks and patrolling drone gunships from the future scenes, supported by swarms of various loitering smart mines and aerostats, which were little football-sized armed drones. Which I think its fair to say was an excellent prediction of future warfare. Only reason we saw them in open combat in the films is because Cameron wanted to invoke Stalingrad for the final assault on Skynet, the idea of machines being rolled off the assembly line directly into combat in a last desperate act. This wasn't well conveyed in either films, so most people including later writers of the franchise assumed that Skynet had legions of skinless terminators roaming the wasteland for years, which obviously makes it silly as shit that anybody would ever be fooled by the infiltrators, even after the skin became more realistic.

Anyway, i'd say infantry in general would be obsolete when you get to that point. You could make some medium walkers instead with autonomous aerial drones and heavy tanks instead. If you want to clear and hold building, just use smaller autonomous suicide drones.

We're long past the point where combat AIs will be designed to be good.
The primary concern will be that they are cheap, the second that they are intimidating.
The metal men will be stronger, more accurate, and faster than you, maybe.
But you'll be able to wear a cardboard deer suit and they'll allow you to walk right up past them and fry their electronics with a $100 electrical discharge device like a cattle prod or stungun.
