COG'n'dot is still one of the most utilitarian setups in my opinion. Biggest hangup is needing to adjust your stock/LoP if you run around in nods to back up from the piggyback dot, making using the COG a practice in futility thanks to the eye relief. That said, if you're running around shooting passive with nods, it's unlikely you're getting behind the COG anyway.

Piggyback puts the dot at a great height for passive nods shooting.

Dot magnifiers have always been dog water, but they're secondary to using the dot by itself. Supplemental magnification for PID or marginally improving shot placement at mid-ranges.

As much as I appreciate my SpecterDR, it's getting long in the tooth. I find 1x with a piggyback dot more intuitive and quick relative to 1x on the Elcan. Memorizing and baking the holdovers for the piggyback at close ranges to offset height over bore doesn't take tremendous effort or a lot of tine.

LPVOs are fine. 1x is okay depending on the model, but parallax still factors in relative to a dot. They are not as intuitive when shooting from awkward positions. They typically add bulk and weight relative to other options. I usually use them on guns with a mid-range+ focus with 1x without needing a supplemental dot being a bonus. Still have never tried using an LPVO passively with nods on, can't comment on how easy that is or isn't. I imagine a piggybacked dot on the LPVO would come in handy for nods enjoyers.
