The chapter pretty much confirms this new artificial life are going to be future enemies in the games/books. Cortana didn't even try to undo any of it.

I actually am listening to the audiobook. I highly recommend it because of all the different people they got to narrate these. I think it was chapter 10, the one with the female Grunt commander, that shit was very fun to listen to.

>>25306738(OP) This story was written in 2023. They haven't done much with it. But they didn't release much game content past Infinite anyway. ""And so, I will lay the foundation for a new strategy, one I had always hoped might gain Her full favor. Our kind will have to recalculate our timetables, but this practice is nothing new. Our charge has not changed. The FIREWALL agendum must be set in motion. It will burn hot. It will consume. And when their ephemeral vessels are gone, we shall indeed take that which remains and remake it in our own image."
You know, they probably don't want to steer this franchise in a direction too similar to Mass Effect, that's why the Created didn't take too much space in the story and they introduced another ancient alien species, related to the Forerunner.

>>25307773 The Flood is a great book but spends too much time narrating events from the first game. It kinda pointless if you've already played it. But it's also way better than the game at telling the same story, of course.

>>25307930 I read Cole Protocol too (inb4 >>>/lit/). 4/5. Deserves to stand with maybe not the best of milSF but certainly with the finest Kindleslop. I liked Contact Harvest too even if it was headcanon, because it was a Halo author's headcanon. 3/5
I mean... I don't understand how people can still interact with this franchise and not feel pain, anguish and hatred. Watching Halo across time has been like watching a dear friend get raped over and over again... relentlessly... mercilessly... defiled in the most sickening and grotesque ways...
How do you look at the franchise in its current state and not seethe..? Genuinely.
Did you ever love Halo...did you ever care?

Halo is probably the most white american franchise ever created. Whether that's a good or bad thing I'm not sure, but I can't help cringe when I replay the games and there's so much MARINES OORAH type stuff. The amount of spiky haired dorks in 2007 who probably thought this was so cool and immediately signed up to the military to go die for Israel is hilarious

Pardon, but I've just noticed the image that you've chosen to illustrate your sensory deprivation concept. It is clear to me that this simple cartoon image of yours is based upon a more elaborate version, due to one "S Zenith Lee". Although this particular image is worksafe, S Zenith Lee also trafficks in amputee porn, extreme BDSM and the like.
The notion of being pure consciousness (gradual loss of the use of body parts) is also explored during one episode in the middle of the video game Earthbound. And the hell of it is indicated by the Metallica music video "One". With regard to amputee porn, there is one particular image that I enjoy which depicts a girl (who has clearly been blinded, her eyes are dulled) getting a syringe to her tongue from one fellow as another is about to be penetrated. I like to imagine that the syringe is robbing her of her taste and (possibly) smell, so that in the tableaux, all she has left is her sense of touch, which she must use. Hope that this post helps to expand on the literary notion of helplessness!

>>25314359 So are fiction novels in a series so whatever. Halo games were encapsulated in a story. There's no reason Halo couldn't have expanded into a universe like Star Wars did. Except that both were handled incompetently by successors who didn't understand what they had.
