It is pretty good, I found it very informative on the subject of IQ.

The book's real value isn't in its content directly, but in the reaction it provoked, and still provokes to this day. I credit this book with singlehandedly helping me to realize that large parts of the supposed rationalistic reason- and science-based world of academia, is just as dogmatic as any religion. After reading controversial works, I like to search for counterarguments to see how strong the book really was. With The Bell Curve, I was surprised to find most of the criticisms amounted to the facts being racist. They were not racist because they were wrong, but because the outcome showed different outcomes by racial group, which went against their egalitarian beliefs. Other arguments put forth really weak arguments that were directly addressed in the book, showing they hadn't even read it, or perhaps we're trying to manipulate prospective readers. There were arguments about some of the studies used being from racist sources, but there was no evidence that these studies weren't using real data. It is one of the only books I've seen where the sources were actually seriously critiqued, in books that conform to the academic consensus, the sources are accepted without question. So, in summary, the attacks against this book, really display the worst of academia and do a lot to discredit their authority, and that is more valuable than anything in the book itself.

Yes. Hair type, blood group, eye colour, facial features, ability to digest certain foods, average height, body shape etc. All these traits demonstrably differ between ethnic groups.

Is intelligence a trait of humans that will likewise vary?

You can logically only choose one answer:

A) Yes - and as intelligence is one of a human’s key traits it is likely to be selected for quite strongly in different environments and communities,

B) No - intelligence is a special trait - alone amongst all traits it’s not possible for it to vary between groups at all - all groups of human beings have the same average intelligence.

If you pick B fine, but don’t expect to pass a biology class any time soon.
