>>23856572(OP) I was all in on this from the first announcement and art and especially the first trailer with the cool electric guitar and it sucks that the newest trailer is catching the gooner fans with the ass shot and a version of the lesbian scene that they're not going to temper their expectations for.

>>23856572(OP) I'm glad they are actually attempting to adapt the manga and her characterization

Anonymous05/11/26(Mon)15:51:42
>>23856572(OP) I wish they would have kept the music of the PSX game. Maybe this is more along the lines of what Shirow wants but it's more along the lines of '80s '90s OVA stuffs. >>23857166 Nah we never really got to see it animated. Just adapted into the pretentious movie.

>>23857166 That’s not an “NPC” opinion, that’s coming from long time fans who have read the original manga. There’s been people waiting over two decades possibly three for a true faithful adaptation
>>23856572(OP) God damn I really like the music. Not exactly 'manly jazz' but...'manly swing' maybe? I'm a bit of a musiclet and don't quite know how to describe it.

Anonymous05/11/26(Mon)19:09:36
contrarians on 4chan have devolved to the point that you have people trying to bait and cry and whinge about a new GitS show that's more directly adapting the original manga, just because it's new. It's sad.

00
Anonymous05/11/26(Mon)19:15:18
>>23857450 It wouldn't, no. Genuinely not and not to this level. You always had contrarians, but they used to not constitute the majority, at least in smaller boards like here.
>>23857459 >You always had contrarians, but they used to not constitute the majority Uh, if they're the majority opinion, they're not contrarians by definition.
00
Anonymous05/11/26(Mon)19:34:46
>>23857479 They hold an opinion insincerely just to counter what they perceive to be the majority opinion rather than any judgement on the work itself. That means they're contrarian, even if in a place where they occupy the entirety of the population.

Anonymous05/11/26(Mon)19:45:01
>>23857191 It had been the same intro for the past 30 years. No one needs to actually read it
>>23857482 >They hold an opinion insincerely just to counter what they perceive to be the majority opinion rather than any judgement on the work itself. You have genuine schizophrenia. How the fuck would you know what people do or don't "perceive" or whether or not their opinion is "sincere"? Maybe they just have a different opinion than you.
In fact, being against an entirely imaginary enemy just because of what you think they "perceive" is actual, legitimate contrarianism, again by the word's textbook definition. If you don't like seeing opinions different to your own, for any reason, you need to go straight back to plebbit because clearly this website is not for you.

>>23857514 Not that anon but ignoring the trolls what are your thoughts on the new show?
>>23857517 It looks OK, I guess. I like the character designs and it does indeed seem like they're going to at least try to be faithful to the original, but the animation looks kind of cheap and I'm expecting a good deal of the fanservice to be taken out. If the lesbian orgy is represented accurately I'll eat my hat. I also think the coloring has the same issue a lot of other modern anime series, especially remakes of old shows (like the Ranma 1/2 reboot for example) have where it's a little too bright and flat and looks less detailed as a result. The music is nice.
I don't have enough faith in Science Saru to hype something up without actually seeing a full episode first, but it could theoretically be good if they don't intentionally screw it up. I'd certainly like it to be good, but we'll see if it actually is when it's out. I was burned by PSG season 2 last year so I'm keeping my expectations well within the realm of possibility for this.

Ok, thats nice Manga faithfull Appleseed soon, right?
>>23857529 >but the animation looks kind of cheap The animation, as in the movement, looked above average for a tv production. Probably the only decent thing in the whole trailer . >PSG PSG was never good. Flcl was the last decent anime Gainax has ever made.

>>23857033 >this manga that's 9/10ths Shirou's schizobabble (not even counting 2) if you include the footnotes >what it's really about is the major and how she makes my peepee feel >that's really the fundamentals of ghost in the shell Look I argue for holistic adaptations all the time but you people are absurd.
>>23857406 You can't be this foolish. I read the manga after seeing tank police when I was really young. I've wanted to see an actual anime adaptation of the original mongo for a very long time. More than half my life.
I was very pleased with SAC and was happy to leave it at that. However this is very nice and I appreciate it.
00
Anonymous05/11/26(Mon)20:45:06
>>23857576 The manga is one of the first I ever read and I've always hated SAC and liked the first film. SAC feels like a compromise between two visions and never its own thing. SAC's also more plot driven I think which the manga/film aren't.

>>23857529 I actually don't mind the coloring that much, it doesn't look any worse than your reaction images. I wish it was an ova so they used a lot more shading but the Batou shots looked pretty nice.

>>23857800 >no one read the manga Because if they had they'd probably appreciate the adaptation as something keeping the franchise alive instead of coming to "correct" the previous iterations that are incredibly popular and beloved. Contrarians hating on a popular director or show are nothing new.

>>23857820 I've read the manga multiple times, as well as appleseed and dominion, and I'm pretty hyped to finally have an adaptation that at the very least aesthetically hits close to that. I've loved shirow's art style (at least for that earlier stuff, I'm nostalgic for his later digital colouring but dunno how much I like them) for years and seeing a fairly close attempt at animating it is great. I think the colours are a bit off and the look is a bit too clean but still, I'm hyped enough to see how this goes.
>>23857830 They've had 30 years of doing adaptations that did their own different things (though how different is subjective, it's more accurate to describe it as 30 years of doing copies of oshii) to the point that actually doing something close to the original style, for once, is actually refreshing. I hope it's good, and does well, and they end up also doing appleseed as a result
