Fanmade animations are of course A-OK. You could even host a panel to watch those if you have more than a few.

I've been to cons but I've never been to a Marefare, and all the cons I've been to have been in a convention center. Is this whole con in a hotel? How does that work? Are there panels? I assume there's merch, but if I pay for 3 days of a hotel room and the ticket, that baseline is like over 500 dollars.
What exactly am I paying so much for?

Yes you can bring items like kumis in the US, I did it last year. All you have to do is announce it for customs when entering the country and provide a receipt of when and where you bought it. Make sure it’s sealed from the factory, if anything is open it will be confiscated.
