Why dont zoomers listen to full albums? I work at a restaurant and I was outback smoking a cig and some of the zoomer front of house girls were outside chillin' and they are like rap fans they like NBA Youngboy and shit, and I asked them if they ever sat and heard one of his albums and they told me they only listen to Playlist and I just dont get it. You say you're a fan of this artist but you wont listen to a project they worked hard on and put together showcasing stuff they thought was their best work or at least stuff to give context to the big popular songs. Lots of artist, especially rappers and metal bands, record 100s of songs sometimes and boil it down to just 7-20 album songs so you'd think people would want to listen to a full completed project but it seems zoomers either can't listen to the same guy for 30+ minutes or they really dont care about songs that aren't popular

>>130601231(OP) Because most albums have a few good songs and a bunch of mediocre shit or worse albums where a lot of the songs sound way too similar to each other. Yeah I know they worked hard but it's not like all their live setlists are the entire albums either even musicians know when certain songs just aren't that popular.

>>130601301 Yeah I was lucky I was raised by parents that gave me all their 8trak and vinyl and cassette when I was younger and let me sit and listen to music. I just don't get why you wouldn't listen to an album of somebody you're a "fan" of. I understand listening to Playlist if you dont really care about specific artist but I just can't wrap my head around somebody saying they are a fan and not listening to an artist project. And that goes for anything really its like saying you love Thai food but never had Laab
>>130601231(OP) If something isn’t instantly catchy with a clear hook they don’t have the attention span and/or patience. I know thats a cliche at this point but theres genuine truth in it. The combination of media on demand and the wide and desperate competition for clicks and views and attention has driven media of all kinds to become shallower and almost entirely focussed on that instant gratification. Theres no such thing as a slow-burner any more, not in music, not in visual media etc because too many people will just click away after 30 seconds. That in turn leads to playlist culture where people assemble all the catchy, immediately attention grabbing tracks and discard the rest that might take a little time or thought to appreciate. Thats affected everyone to some extent but for zoomers and alphas its literally all they've ever known, thats their normal, their baseline.
>>130601231(OP) Why would i listen to songs that i dont like? If an album has 6 good songs and the other 7 are bad, i'll put those 6 in my playlist and stick to that :)
