>>130602280 Back in 86 I was listening to Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motley Crew, Megadeath, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Misfits, Ramones, Annihilator, Voivod, DRI, The cramps, etc. I can name bands for days cause I was alive back then...

>>130601569 Master of puppets is a great song but the rest is mid at best, normally I wouldn't care but I've seen lots of people claiming it's their best album which is just bizarre
>>130601538(OP) Side A is great. Side B is mediocre.

Metallica is a relic of the past, very influential/foundational, but dated, they were the ground others built castles on. Metallica walked so A7X could run (City of Evil--->The Stage).

>>130603279 I'm with you. Side A is perfect, but B drags like hell. The best part is the bridge in Leper Messiah, which some believe is a Mustaine leftover riff. Idk if I buy that, but it's great.
>>130601538(OP) The rhythm of this album is the stuff of legends. It's so powerful, it inspired generations to pick up a guitar. So that's a weird non-point

>>130602280 Chuck also inspired generations to pick up a guitar.

>>130603940 ?? Each song is a collection of repetitive boring riffs that go nowhere pieces together in some Frankenstein abomination and produced in a sewer

>>130601538(OP) It has the best songwriting of all their album. Best production too. They just hit a peak with that sound and everyone was playing well. It's the best metal album ever. Heck, even a turbohipster like Cobain liked 'The thing that should not be' off that album.
But I would agree that if you want raw and fun metal KEA and RTL are better for that metal exploitation sound that has shit production but it's jumpy and crazy and not so serious and occasionally even symphonic (Orion) as MoP is.
