I've recently imported a car from japan and I'm pretty sure whoever owned the car last was an actual retard. >AC vents were falling down so he just filled the housing with black rtv >He wanted an LED interior light, so he took the glass out of the light bulbs and soldered tiny lengths of LED strips into the bases. >Seat belt screwed in with a bolt that has a hoop on the end instead of a hex head, only hand tightened. >3 entirely different sets of wheel nuts on the wheels, including lock nuts, front wheels had 2 lock nuts each as well. >Yokohama semi slicks on the back, generic chinese tyres on the front >Vacuum line leading from intake manifold to the cabin, absolutely nothing on the end of it, just leaking boost pressure
What's some of the retarded fucking shit your previous owners have done?

>>28980848(OP) a while back an anon bought an RV and posted the horror wiring job to the ccg thread. the methhead owner used fucking ethernet cable to wire up whatever electrical stuff he added to the vehicle, it was pretty bonkers. on a different note, i remember another anon who was looking at a truck previously owned by a pilot or plane mechanic, and it had an autistic amount of service logging in a little notebook/notepad. cant remember if he bought it or not though.

>decide to install 2 10" subwoofers on my explorer >Find an empty cavity in the cargo area where the crummy factory subwoofer was >Mount the amp to a small rectangle of plywood because that seemed smart >Wood screw plywood to some framing member in the cavity >Just use 2 screws, figure I'll get some brackets and help it out later, just 2 screws at the top it's just hanging down like a kitchen towel >Forget about it, it's just flopping the fuck around in that cavity >Subs stop working, I bring it to a professional to diagnose
The wires flipped around so much they worked their way out of the amp. The dude also pointed out the PCB should've cracked shorting the amp.
Sometimes you get retarded, sometimes your the retard.
>>28980848(OP) I was genuinely impressed by this. There was arguably more effort involved in getting this bit of wood in place than there would have been in just replacing the regulator. VERY confident this was used as a drug mule car, too, as the rear windows had a nearly opaque tint, and a section of the carpet in the rear was conveniently cut in such a way that you could stash stuff under there.

The previous owner of my car put a massive subwoofer in the car but did nothing to resolve multiple oil leaks.
Pulled boot interior from my alfa romeo. Some previous owner >Removed speakers from their stock spot >cut holes in shelf >installed new speakers I want to cut his fingers off

>>28980848(OP) Drilled a hole in the oil fill-cap to try and route a turbo oil return line through it.

>>28980959 Yea, its the kind of thing my zoomoid brain wouldnt even think of or try.
>>28981207 Oof, reminds me of my MGB - A previous owner physically cut one of the strengthening beams of the body shell and bent it out of the way to fit the speakers. Could've just put them in the door like every one else, but nooooooo. Fucking nonce.

>>28980959 i love finding leftover drugs in used cars.
>>28980848(OP) >What's some of the retarded fucking shit your previous owners have done? This stupid fucking thing disconnects the rear brakes. I guess this is for doing a burnout without actually moving?
>>28981864 >line lock Makes sense although that's weird to have in a 230 HP car.

>>28981884 How come? Don't have to drag your brakes when turning rubber to smoke. I had line locks in my 70hp toyota shitbox

>>28981894 That's fair. I was immediately thinking someone was drag racing this car before and going so far as to have this installed when having just 230 HP was overkill but I guess my perspective might be skewed thanks to all the retard high HP numbers jewtubers keep shitting out for engagement and views.

oh actually the celica i bought a previous owner had filled the door drain areas with expanding foam so it'd flood the interior
>>28980848(OP) >What's some of the retarded fucking shit your previous owners have done? It was my recent Lexus sedan that I bought. It was probably owned by some drug dealer or pimp or something. >all blacked-out paint job >rare black leather and mahogany wood interior dealer option >open trunk to find stripper high-legged stiletto boots >and lingerie clothing >glove box had lipstick, makeup and Frank Sinatra cassette music tapes >check out paperwork >police impound from Los Angeles California >sold at auction previously best believe I sanitized the fuck out of the interior when I started modifying it. True story
Classic Mini >Previous owner replaced the 48hp 998 (higher compression variant) with the lowest output 1275 from a Clubman that made ~55hp iirc >Gave me the 998 in bits, as far as I can tell there was nothing wrong with it
>>28981966 >ain't no replacement for displacement boi, mmm hmmm~
But for real, that's not the worst thing to do. Literally plug and play swap, and potentially cheap as fuck, too. Also means you have more *potential* power on tap should you choose to chase it, and likely makes it's power lower in the rpm range, making it far more tractable in all driving conditions.
