All in all, I’m pretty happy with my 2002 yz250 the 250’s aren’t as crazy as I remembered. I mean it’s still powerful, but I don’t feel like it’s as powerful as I remembered. With my 450 I’d twist the throttle and the front end would pick up like nobody’s business. The 250 feels like it wants to pick up, but I’m scared to crank the throttle too much..

can you not find the appropriate connector and de-pin the terminals from the old one, then put them in the new one?
You'll probably need a terminal lance or some very thin and long, strong pointy object to be able to release the latch(es) that keep them clipped into place.

The other headlight unit will not bolt up to the standard mounting points, this was my first idea when it failed but id rather not go cutting wires as my monkey brain cannot do electrics

Enduro headlight came with mounts but of course everything on my bike is getting in the way

I may have lucked out and found a replacement headlight bucket (according to AI the part numbers are identical and they used these lights across a few different south American bikes ) but i know AI will just tell you what you want to hear

The one and only time I dropped my bike was when I used the side stand to park on a slight hill and the wind blew my bike over. Only damage was some scratches on the bottom fairing and the bar end.

Does E15 gas really fuck up carbs? I'm looking for a first bike, but everything that isn't a large displacement, insurance-killer is old enough to not have fuel injection. I just don't want to have to clean my fuel system a multiple times a year.

Nah, only if it sits. If you're gonna let the bike sit for more than a week just turn the fuel shut off and let it drain the bowl while running.

Also you can remove ethanol from fuel pretty easily if you wanted to be autistic about it.

i used to have a set of nonoise motorsports ones but they're so old that they're all swollen and they don't seal for shit anymore. i tried a pair of regular ear plugs and they're too quiet, now i'm not sure what to order

I have Ear Piece, the low or mid-range ones I can't remember. They're great, only thing is I think I need to put a difference size plug on the right side bc they come loose more than the left side bc of my own ears.

i had a VFR1200F that i bought in 2023 and thought I'd go touring and all that, never happened. barely rode it due to it being chunky in the city and i don't do a ton of highway touring. it had an amazing amount of power on the highway but it felt like it was a bike that was designed half-heartedly. it had the factory side bags and that shit wouldn't even fit a full-faced helmet even though they're really big
just traded it in today for a 2022 Z900

My employer puts out earplugs. I wear them while I'm doing my job. My job is very loud. When I'm done doing my job and it's time to go home, I take them out and throw them on the ground. I never wear them while riding. No need to.

Should I dump some money into my 2024 DR650 or get a 2012 Vulcan Voyager?

I’m thinking of doing TM40 carb, exhaust, bigger front brake and steel braided lines, bars, maybe grips, bigger fuel tank, and maybe a windscreen. Or fuck all that and add a giant touring cruiser to the stable even though I don’t do any touring really?


Seems kinda neat to have a giant full fairing cruiser with stereo and stuff but at the same time, 900lbs wet is so fucking heavy, how do you even have fun on that?

I liked these on my Dr650 for the price, had good road tractions and bite in loose gravel/stones and harder pack dirt. Front was not the best in the sand. Got about 3-4k mi out of a rear and 5-6k mi out of the front.

I swapped to tusk D-sports I like them better.

Prior to the DR I had an M8 Street Bob and it was fun but the limited cornering capabilities really neutered the experience

Had them on my CRF. They're pretty good. Decent enough on road, decent enough offroad. Good in gravel. They're not very good in mud or sand, if you plan on doing anything too crazy offroad get a more aggressive tire with more space between the knobs.

I want to get my first bike - I want to use it for commuting to work during summer and light trips.

I really like the look of the Royal Enfield Bear/Interceptor|Triumph Scrambler/Speed Twin 900.

my intuition says that these are powerful enough for a beginner, especially when I know that I'm not looking for a racer, just some chill riding.

But, my experience riding bikes is limited to 50cc mopeds from back when I was 15/16.

what's the sensible thing to get? I know preferences vary, but any advice for a first bike?
