It's close to the centre of the path of the totality, has okayish cloud coverage (unlike northern coast), and apparently it's a short hike from nearest train/bus station.

not overly important for total eclipses, height over the horizon is more important and that location is unnecessarily too far east

t. i will land in Madrid the day before and decide once there based on weather
