>>4496939 Thanks friend, I try to keep a set of 3 theme going.
>I tend to dump a bunch of shots I took that week on my ig >I'm a beginner who just wants to get some stuff out there That's all fine really, everything being black and white keeps it consistent. You'll find things you enjoy taking photos of more than others and it'll all fall into place. Gave you a follow since you have some cool pics.
No, I tried a couple other apps like Threads and Grainery or Fotos but I’ve only really stuck to Instagram. I had planned on posting another 3 posts yesterday but I got caught up with other shit as usual lmao

>>4497163 Social media is literally just client work for a soulless algorithm now. It's only worth it for a small network, ie: real friends only, but almost nobody does that anymore. The only communal activities anyone is interested in anymore are video games, sports, and drinking and no one has any shared interests beyond that. Our culture was systematically killed.
In fact, I grew up being repeatedly told that because I was white, I had no culture, despite being able to clearly see all the older white people obviously had a culture but my entire generation was told, again and again, you have no culture. College was worse. I was told we were the worst thing to ever happen to the planet and had to say sorry or we were even eviler.

>>4497337 >It's only worth it for a small network It isn't. All it did was make me unhappy because I was watching photos I had put lots of effort into making be completely ignored. I don't bother showing my pictures to anyone aside my Girlfriend anymore. Don't get me wrong, my photos are nothing super special, but they're usually technically competent and of something at least moderately interesting, that would spark a conversation at least. All it did was make me feel like nobody really gave a shit about me. So I don't bother with it anymore. I'm just going to print photos to put around my home now, that make me personally happy. Thanks for reading my blog.
>>4497338 And this is what mental illness looks like.
I havent posted on insta in more than a year but Ive still been traveling and taking lots of photos. Havent shared with anyone. I need a reason to keep posting, insta recognition is like getting blood from stone
>>4497401 The likes I get from other anons is enough for me honestly, I'm just happy if even one or two people enjoy my photos.

>>4497401 I get that but it's also fun to just throw it out there with no expectations and if someone happens to discover them, thats nice. Posting only to get visibilty, likes and shares take some fun out of it. I treat it like a personal photo-diary-dump.
>>4497163 tiktok is good for lots of engagement if you choose some trending song in the photography side of tiktok but from my experience it stay there if you're not a full fledged influencer.

>>4497337 Photography as a community was purposefully injured by zuckerberg (zuckerberg (zuckerberg)). He just decided short form video was more addictive, trained AI better, and generated more profits by harvesting more data from the users he considers cattle/dumb fucks and that was it. Reels to the top of the algorithm. Photos to the bottom. Now platforms are slowly phasing out “sort by most recent” to ensure nothing is seen if they haven’t determined it to be worth seeing.
They control the community so there can never be dissent and to keep consoomers consooming
And everyone under 30 fell for it, and defended falling for it. Dumb fucks.
I've got a gay little website I put all my photos on now. https://deadpangraveyard.net/ Instagram: tommylittle_
I'm sorting through a few thousand photos, I only have around 200 or 300 photos on the site.
>>4496839(OP) I like your photos, its nice to see a fellow Australian on here. I like you mannequin photos and old mate in the library. >>4496965 My favourite in this thread. Reminds me of my own photos a bit but you are much better at taking photos of people

>>4497553 >I've got a gay little website I put all my photos on now. Based, who'd you go with for getting a domain? I've been considering doing the same
00
Anonymous02/15/26(Sun)09:23:00
>>4497581 This domain and hosting is through ifastnet. Its fairly well priced for what you get and I do recommend. That being said, im only with them becuase they're partnered with the free hosting i used for testing. If your needs are basic, you'd be better off buying a domain from squarespace/google, and using neocities for hosting
00
Anonymous02/15/26(Sun)09:30:13
>>4497583 Thanks, I'll check them out. I thought neocities did everything like domains too so I'll have to look deeper.
00
Anonymous02/15/26(Sun)10:39:56
>>4497583 Isn't Neocities really restricted on how much you can upload (e.g. big problem for photo files)?
I've never really done much in the way of making websites etc so not sure if I am missing something there but that was the reason I gave up on making a neocities site for my photos.

>>4497588 Yeah it is. If you donate you get like 50gb of storage tho. The main thing is that you cant use PHP. If you dont use it then its fine, but you can do so much more with it.
you have really nice pics though, the metro tunnel shots (i forget which station that is) are gorgeous, i've tried to go for similar photos but basically with the opposite color grading. i would post but they're on desktop and i'm on laptop rn
>>4497829 Yeah it's the station across from city hall. It's bizarre how quiet that station is compared to all the rest, I figured the central location near Bourke Street would mean more people would use it.
>i would post but they're on desktop and i'm on laptop rn Post em when you can though bro, I'm eager to see them.
>>4497872 looking back on my shots now, i only got my digital camera after they started putting shit in there so there's that little sushi shop sign and such. i was there day one but only had a dinky toy film camera that i haven't gotten developed yet
i'm very novice at photography desu, mostly just amateur hobby shit for me to do when i go out, i don't post anywhere though
>>4497954 i was very in love with the roof on the platforms. i wanted to get a straight down photo from the top of the escalators but all of the advertising screens on the platform were pissing me off

Anonymous02/18/26(Wed)07:11:37
>>4497954 Gotta start somewhere bro, don't worry if you feel like your pics aren't great yet. You just need to keep getting out there and look at some other peoples stuff for inspiration on composition.
>>4497956 >i wanted to get a straight down photo from the top of the escalators but all of the advertising screens on the platform were pissing me off Yeah that shit is obnoxious, apparently a lot of people are complaining about it. We're both lucky that giant billboard in the city hall station wasn't active in our photos, it's going to look like shit in there when it is active.
There's another station I haven't been to yet which apparently has a really cool glass elevator tube, I think that'd make for a cool pic.
>>4497957 do you know which station that is? i'm interested to give it a squiz
00
Anonymous02/18/26(Wed)08:14:23
>>4497960 Sure, it's the Anzac station. You can find a lone glass tube at the edge of the park and it's one of the elevators, though that's not the main way in obviously but is an extra just behind the main entry area. It's pretty neat that they went with a glass tube instead of just some standard box for it.

Yes the under-exposure was intentional, I based a roll around an album cover that was exposed for the sky.
Anyone heard about out Irys? It's some Instagram alternative made by an autist photographer and is just for photographers, it looks alright to me but I'm guessing the userbase is probably in the dozens.

>>4499651 >>4499677 I heard it is good custom to actually follow back everyone who follows you.
I actually wanted to post mine but it is very barebone, made in summer. I was not using IG for very long time, only uploading to my own private site (without restrictions on size and such) but I noticed that most people don't go outside social media and people who received my photos (I was doing them mostly at anime cons, concerts, events, etc) while really liked them, often asked for IG or similar profile and strongly suggested to make one. IG seems to be in demand as people actually started posting my photos once I made this profile. Problem is, I don't really know what I'm supposed to do with it. I cannot upload sample pics of all galleries uploaded so far on private site since IG got angry for posting few "carousels" in short time and demanded extra verification - and I don't really want them to get to the point where they will demand ID, so far stopped at photo and phone number. I also don't use application on phone, just browser on PC and I cannot add website address that way, except of as text in description. I don't know, for example, if I should upload mine few selected photos after anime con staff (where I was photographing as "officially approved media") uploaded some of the ones I sent them or not. Or to upload selected ones I made during conference in Japan and so on. Overall I'm not professional photographer, I have my own, rather unrelated job, so I only do actual photos when I have chance to (I still wish I could do actual photo session with some cosplayer at least once in my life but I might be too old for that already). Any suggestions?
Sorry for little blogposting.
