>dating a girl years younger than me >she doesnt know that MTV is >she finds the concept of a tv channel playing music videos for most of the day a novel concept that would be really cool
I never had a bigger reality check than that yeah, I expect younger people not to know how it is to have a landline at home and all that, but not knowing about MTV or similar stuff? I'm fucking old and I'm barely 30.

>>84825732 >"Barely 30", so likely 27-28 >"Younger", as in likely 6 or 5 years younger

>>84825685(OP) I'm like 40 and I barely know what MTV is. I remember in my teens they almost never played a music video. Make up better lies, diiipshit.

>>she doesnt know that MTV is Goes to show how irrelevant it was since the internet became mainstream. Though I was sad to hear when it closed down, it was long overdue.

>>84825685(OP) Wait don't you have 500 cable tv channels? Surely some are broadcasting music? Aren't they?

>grow old >get urge to randomly quiz normal (young) people about COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT bullshit why does this happen with every generation? they did this to me when I was a kid. >oh so you like [band]? can you name the year of release for each of their albums? fuck off nigger, that's why you're bald now, you spent your hair follicles on storing band trivia, I saved mine
>>84825685(OP) >I'm fucking old and I'm barely 30. Well I'm 31 and I often hang around zoomers. I always took my relative age as more of an opportunity to launch conversations that would have otherwise been too mundane to someone else of my age. MTV would be one of them, although I really only occasionally watched Jersey Shore there. I've found they're particularly fascinated by the flashier stuff, like what happened to me on 9/11, or even my hazy memories of the late 90's. "Back in my day" can make you a relatively fascinating person to the right crowd.
