The Human Empathy System is both the most consequential system in the mind and the most flawed. Its original purpose was to allow you to learn from others. For example if you see someone eating a burger and enjoying it, you will learn that eating a burger can give you pleasure.
The problem starts because the method the mind uses to allow you to understand other people's emotions is a double-edge sword. On the one hand, it is the direct cause of everything good you associate with the word "empathy." On the other hand, it is also the root cause of everything you qualify as evil.
