Because unless you indiscriminately bet on your team in every single game, you can still manipulate the odds. If there are any games where you DON’T bet on your team, you can purposely play worse in those games to deflate the expected win total of your team which gives you slightly more favorable odds in the games that you do choose to bet on. Think of it like the sports gambling version of pumping and dumping stocks or shitcoins.
