No one besides Melo thought he had a Denver legacy worth protecting
Olympics are forever, nobody is going to forget how Melo carried the team in London and Rio (when Lebitch decided he was "too tired" to play Olympics anymore until they gave him a literal superteam in 2024). KD will end with more medals and overall points but Melo made it look fucking easy against some of the best international teams ever.

Fox sold the entire series. If the FBI actually investigated, I think he'd be in a cell next to Terry Rozier. It was genuinely that blatant of a sell job.
