It says you cannot reduce the curse level of Salacious from Potent of the Blood, but if you take Potent of the Blood and Unlikely Alteration, are you allowed to swap Salacious to a different, equal tier of another curse?
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)23:56:02
>>98189633 I would say that the intent is clearly no. And arguably so is the RAW, because if you use unlikely alteration to swap it you are effectively reducing it to 0, that's still a reduction.

>>98189572 Since we decided to go with Greece, do we have a general idea of what it was like in the past, for those with From Torpor builds and sires who may have been there?

>>98189643 Next question. I find the idea of an armored knight vampire to be very cool. If a vampire is fully armored at all times, can they function in the sun, or is it more "supernaturally penetrating" than actual physical sunlight?
I'd like to not have to take Hand of Forgiveness since I saw people making fun of builds that took it, but if I can't go a-crusading then I guess I'll do it anyway.
>>98189674 >I'd like to not have to take Hand of Forgiveness since I saw people making fun of builds that took it That's just the normal shitposting. And you may not have any choice if you want to go with your idea. >If a vampire is fully armored at all times, can they function in the sun, or is it more "supernaturally penetrating" than actual physical sunlight? That's a good question. The light isn't any more supernaturally penetrating than normal, but at normal bane levels ANY level of sunlight will start to kill you, sunglasses, tinted windows, sunscreen, none of these work, some light can get through and that kills you. Maybe it kills you a bit slower but not enough to matter much. The sunlight iteslf isn't supernatural, but it's effect is, so it's way harder to block. Also, reflected light has the same effect, so wearing armor is like covering yourself in mirrors, a single stray ray of light making it into a gap and you die. So technically you can wear anti sun armor, but it would have to be more similar to a sealed sarcophagus of metal than normal armor, and you definitely can't afford holes for eyes, or anything else really.

>>98189714 I think full body coverage should be banned for female builds (^人^)
>>98189674 Rank 3 necromancy corpse in the monster allows you to go out in the sun for a day. But you basically need a whole human worth of blood to do it.
00
Anonymous06/11/26(Thu)00:22:06
>>98189734 To be clear, many vampire settings have the UV rays be what kills the vampires, so sunglasses and all that stuff that filters the light does work. But not VtM, here it's the light as a whole that kills you. The only light you can be hit by is moonlight, and apparently even that can have consequences sometimes, not death, but curses of other kinds.

>>98189572 For all the rolls we got, did anyone actually use them? Also, did we ever reach a decision about using your rolls anyway even if you got curse of the dice?
So even if you have affinity in a fuckload of stuff thanks to a powerful sire and take heavy blood boosting impurities and such, it looks like youll only ever cap out at like... 30 or 35 blood? And as such, you can only max out about three, maybe 4 blood powers?
00
Anonymous06/11/26(Thu)01:44:24
>>98190045 >4th gen sire +20 >unnatural embrace +3 >from torpor +10 >3 impairments +9 >potent of the blood +5 >permanent fangs +3 you can get fifty blood easy and maxxing three blood powers is "ancient apocalypse monster" level
00
Anonymous06/11/26(Thu)01:54:07
>>98190045 >>98190061 Hold on a minute. The biggest way to get more blood is to reduce blood costs through affinities. A rare affinity saves you 8 blood if you go ancient. There are two affinities you can get through unnatural embrace
00
Anonymous06/11/26(Thu)01:54:49
>>98190061 Honestly anything at ancient is insane by modern standards, everyone who can do ancient stuff is asleep.
We are literally unheard of entities, we legitiamtely herald the end of teh world
00
Anonymous06/11/26(Thu)01:58:55
Can affinities stack if they're for the same discipline?
00
Anonymous06/11/26(Thu)02:00:41
>>98190045 >it looks like youll only ever cap out at like... 30 or 35 blood? The cyoa makes it clear that you can actually keep growing. That's what chronicles are for, and the 3 limit is only for the prewritten ones. The cyoa is very vague on where exactly each generation caps out in terms of power. Of course none of this matters to us since we never do progression anyway.
>>98190104 No. Affinity is a one and done deal. Applies to the whole discipline but you can only have 1. >>98190116 Unnatural Embrace, Accursed Wretch and Whispers of the Ages give you Affinity with a rare or common discipline respectively. Neither of them specifies that it has to be a discipline you don't know, so you could technically choose one you already have. But since it doesn't stack it would be a waste.
So like what happens if you choose upgraded appearance along with this? Do you become like a succubus or a charming devil?

>>98190395 if you get him angry enough and you're not Camarilla (and he thinks he can beat you after stalking for a while), quite possibly. He won't let his hobbies compromise his politics to that degree. He's more the type to reply to a shitpost with an IP address and full name/clan. All you Anarchs and ESPECIALLY Sabbat posting on SchreckNet better watch it though.

>>98190359 You'd be pretty for a monster, but still ugly and fucked up enough that normies immediately think "that's a supernatural being"
00
Anonymous06/11/26(Thu)03:52:12
>>98190087 You can get a grand total of five affinities then right? Three from the clan, and two more from those unnatural embraces?
>>98190359 So this is the power of VTM as a cyoa...Pretty good kid *spits blood*

>>98190337 ' An Ahrimane usually learned a runic script from her sire not intended for outsiders, so she could leave messages for other Ahrimanes. These symbols conveyed only basic meanings such as "hostile Cainites" or "good hunting", but it was enough to give a small edge to an Ahrimane entering a new territory. '
Imagining Monty screaming and standing in a room full of red lines and pushpins and random images and shapes trying to decipher the random markings that Rosa left on her buildings like https://youtu.be/9v9A4GVOV2c?t=247 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVPT0JT1dOw one of these scenes
And he finally deciphers it after bribe and hack and manipulation and getting too close to old fangs and its just the old Ahrimane hobo-script that says 'I live here' or some shit

>>98189725 I kind of agree that daywalking does make things a little less aesthetically interesting. That said, I feel there’s such a huge narrative incentive to have access to a full 9–15 hours of uptime that the majority of Kindred can’t partake in. If torpor and daysleep were something that could be at least mitigated—even slightly—through willpower, tools, or other mechanics, builds might look very different. The fact that it’s an ingrained, impossible-to-resist phenomenon makes most players want to avoid it entirely, relying on the few built-in options available. And of course, if one wants to circumvent daysleep, then you might as well attempt the same with [The Sun] as not liking the bane and torpor go hand in hand. Least I would say so.
Also worth mentioning: While I’m not familiar enough with the lore to know whether this is canon to the world, the CYOA does state that you’re nearly impossible to detect—presumably even by supernatural means—while in torpor. That sounds like something that might influence a PC’s decision-making. Either way, if most of the Underworld is sleeping at night and undetectable to nearly everyone, players would probably still be forced to engage in narrative activities during daylight hours regardless.
>>98189782 I feel you. It took me 3 days for me to make one, so don't feel bad.
00
Anonymous06/11/26(Thu)08:12:35
>>98190858 Well good news! You can infact willpower to stay awake during the day, its just harder the less human you are and also i think the lower your generation.
Sun can be soaked theoretically if you have ancient fortitude or something and its not at full bane level. Temporarily though, and its aggravated damage for most people which is way worse.
00
Anonymous06/11/26(Thu)09:06:39
>>98190858 >forced to engage in narrative activities during daylight hours regardless. Outside daylight hours I mean.
>>98190908 Huge if true. Would add some more weight to the generation choice and more incentive to deliberate humanity going through plotlines. Hell, it could even be the plotline.
00
Anonymous06/11/26(Thu)09:09:42
>>98190908 >also i think the lower your generation. It's just the lower your humanity, it just so happens that when you've lived for thousands of years (as most 4th/5th Generations have), you become so detached from humanity that you likely stop caring centuries ago.
00
Anonymous06/11/26(Thu)09:28:02
>>98190908 I wonder what happens if you have the grounded bane and you don't have your dirt, are just full on unable to daysleep?

Anonymous06/11/26(Thu)09:34:15
>>98191042 To remain awake, the vampire needs to roll Humanity at difficulty 3; a win keeps them awake for a scene after which they can roll again, a critical win for as long as they need. During this time, their dice pools are capped by their Humanity rating (Core 219)
Additionally, Humanity 9 allows them to remain awake for an hour after dawn without rolling and Humanity 10 allows them to remain awake all day without rolling, though they still need to sleep at some point (Core 236-237).
In Dark Ages (Paths and Roads pretty much) :
a Cainite can use Willpower to remain awake
Perception + Auspex (8) to notice a disturbance if asleep
Should the roll succeed, the Vampire does wake up for 1 round
Then, Road (8) to remain awake
Here, 5 success means the Vampire successfully awoken and can act throughout all day
Still with a maximum dice pool limited by the Road Rating

>>98191042 >>98191054 Woops, I meant to reply to someone else. Grounded (or similar archaic soil-dependent) flaw cannot access their required burial dirt, they are prevented from resting safely and will suffer severe penalties. For each 24-hour period they sleep without it, their dice pools are halved, stacking until they are reduced to just one die.
>>98191071 I promise to anyone who calls me a worthless shitposter that I'll be a better anon next MP or when we start talking about new ones but man guys this is just not it

Sire more or less dissappears/enters torpor, character fights and knights his way around Europe and the Holy Land for the next millennia or so, decides guns make warfare the big gay, goes to sleep around the early 1500s out of sheer spite.
Then he wakes up to find our timeline has only gotten worse.

>>98191143 It does kinda suck that most of the people who like MHA are attached to the first run too much to move on, and most of the remaining anons hate the first run too much to give a new one a chance. The amount of people who would play it for what it is seems very small. Too much emotion in one direction or another.
