>>98205157(OP) >tq I wholeheartedly believe the new idoneth incarnate was supposed to be a generic ghur incarnate in 3rd edition, as part of a trio with the Krondspine and the also scrapped spider incarnate from the rumour engine. The spider incarnate would've represented Gallet, the idoneth incarnate Andtor (a craggy coastal landscape, as seen on the map), in the same way that the Krondspine represents Thondia. All three are the major regions of the primary continent of the Ghurish Heartlands. Of course the whole incarnate thing got thrown into disarray because 3rd edition was a fucking mess behind the scenes, so the other two incarnates never got released, eventually recycling the andtor incarnate into an idoneth unit because eh why not. I think we might also see the spider incarnate at some point, recycled as another faction specific incarnate. Maybe gits because spiders, maybe umbraneth because of shadows, we'll see

>>98205254 Honestly there's nothing particularly idoneth-y about it. Compare to the eidolon for example, which has a million seacreatures swimming around. The incarnate just has rocks and starfish.

>>98205218 >Gallet It was Ulgu. The Krondspine is an incarnate of Ghur, not Thondia. What would that have been an incarnate of? No realm is centred around water outside of Ulgu, which would've been the Spider according to both leakers and the Thondia cliffhanger
>>98205375 The krondspine is a mountain range *in* thondia. As for the spider incarnate, we have artwork showing it in the background when talking about ghur and the gnarlwood and shit (which btw is at the edge of thondia and gallet) We know from rumourmongers that season of war thondia was supposed to be followed up by a season of war gallet and a season of war thondia. Oh and also, from the general's handbook we know gallet is a land full of tunnels and chasms, "where the dominant lifeforms is the arthropod". So to recap; We had season of war thondia dropping the krondspine (which is in thondia) incarnate This was supposed to be followed by a season of war gallet, which we know is all about spiders and shit We know the spider rumour engine is an incarnate, and that it's connected to gallet via the gnarlwood We know that this book was then eventually supposed to be followed up by a season of war andtor, which is a coastal region Then a couple years later, GW just out of the blue drops this centrepiece on idoneth, a faction which had received nothing but heroes since launch, and which is already inundated with centrepieces I rest my case one criticism which I can think of is that andtor looks to be a fairly cold region, which nothing on the incarnate of the deeps really draws attention too.
Turns out Aos was due a model of that one Blanche art piece. Bit sad how both forgeworld and Blanche is gone.

>>98205592 >one criticism which I can think of is that andtor looks to be a fairly cold region, which nothing on the incarnate of the deeps really draws attention too. It's possible that the stone teeth were originally supposed to be ice

Anonymous06/14/26(Sun)17:45:01
>>98205606 Yeah, it's been floating around for a couple years. Sprue says 2018, though it looks kind of off and weirdly stiff. Was probably designed like a decade earlier, sat around until they figured maybe we could release it in aos, but then something happened and it got blocked. Who knows.
>>98205592 >>98205645 They regularly describe the Idoneth incarnate as attacking with freezing water. The tendrils attacks are even called "Freezing Grasp". So them originally being intended as chunks of ice isn't far fetched. There's also not a single Idoneth design cue on the model besides the sea life and detritus. No scalloped lockboxes or broken pottery like pic related. The 3 regions incarnate feels like a more sound theory to me than Krondpine-Ghur, Spider-Ulgu, Fincarnate-???.

Anonymous06/14/26(Sun)18:25:02
>>98205742 >GRASPING TENDRILS:The Incarnate reaches out across the ethersea to conjure tendrils of freezing, coiling water Huh, you're right. But yeah I think it would've been something like >krondspine incarnate of ghur [thondia] >gnarlwood incarnate of ghur [gallet] >krakensea incarnate of ghur [andtor] Last two names are just ideas of course, but they do follow the krondspine example. Honestly I think we got a pretty solid case here fellas

>>98205375 >No realm is centred around water outside of Ulgu Ghyran kind of is, in a way. It's where the idoneth equivalent of hammerhal is located (priom). Ghyran as a wind of magic was also always associated with water and the sea, for example the sea elemental of the whfrpg is created by an abundance of ghyran magic. I believe in tow the cathayans have their own names for the winds of magic, and ghyran becomes the elemental wind of magic.
>>98204463 I'd bet it's more than likely mancrushers and endless spells. I'm wondering if they'll sell multi mancrusher boxes with maybe one alternate build and then you can run 2 mancrushers and a shaman. (Just like every time they pull that annoying shit of, 2-3 model kit, ONE CAN BE BUILT AS A HERO FOR SOME REASON)
What's the deal with khinerai heartrenders/lifetakers, and are they worth taking? I'm new to DoK, and I can't really figure out how to place them in a list. Do I use them as a skirmishing unit? Do I rush them down the board at a soft target? Do I just use them as a distraction for something more important? My instincts are telling me I should be playing DoK like a lawnmower - build up some buffs and then commit to hyper-aggression - so a unit designed more around poke than anything else kinda throws me off.

>>98205880 You can already run mancrushers as 1, so nothing changes. But it probably will be the hero option in a non-hero unit like Lord of Afliction or the dragon knight

>>98205998 >But it probably will be the hero option in a non-hero unit like Lord of Afliction or the dragon knight
That shit drives me insane, because my fucking brain wants to run a normal reinforced unit. It's like that shit back on the xbox 360 where you played a demo of a game and it automatically gave you an achievement worth like... 17 points or some shit, and the only way to round it out was by buying the game.
