r8 these custom masks i got i personally really like the akaku in yellow and the sand purple kakama, but those are more awkward colours to work with than dark turquoise

Has anyone ever made a MOC of the Nameless Toa from Bionicle Heroes? Picked up the DS version recently, dude seems pretty cool with his various Toa themed guns.
>>11797115(OP) >hey anon did u get tahu yet? I have no idea where to get them and I don't have the scanner app so nah
>>11797193 these are odd colors. although lego has been releasing neon yellow lately so it may work with that pakari. really like the sand pink kakama >>11797456 i use omgbricks and check stock online at walmart and target before going. you could also visit official lego stores and they will sometimes let you scan them

>>11797577 the main reason why i ordered the masks was to get some inspiration for some matoran/ toa mocs so far i have an idea for most of them, although i'll have to order parts so far the idea is matoran for the kakama/ pakari/ huna/ hau and an off colour toa of fire for the akaku not entirely sure what to do with the miru and ruru yet, maybe a plasma matoran and a turaga respectively

How to cope with the fact that you had the full Gen1 collection as a kid, but parts broke, got lost, some were given away to younger siblings etc.

>>11797577 >Never heard of this, but he looks pretty boring and is an inika build. Can't say I'm tempted to construct him. In terms of design he's not exciting, but he seems to have the ability to emulate the powers (and weapons? the exact provenance of his non-zamor shooters is questionable) of other Toa, and of course there's the general mystery surrounding him as an apocryphal 7th Inika with an unknown base element. Definitely more interesting as an obscure bit of pseudo-lore, like Shadow Matoran and the like.
Reposting here too, I want weird saddles, why are there ZERO, at most this scala one but its rare and expensive, and maybe damages itself, Where is the real saddle print or something that fits better onto a build, god, also its super weird that we got two saddles in earth orange, this scala one and the fabuland ones
>>11798302 you could always try to get a non lego saddle from a horse doll >>11797577 false eyes yo.. this head is unused and was meant to go on pic related but I decided it was too big. >>11797719 just buy bulk lots :q
>>11798304 Wish they made more pieces in earth orange, that one weird leak thing that happened a year or two ago showing that we coulda gotten a wave 2 mctorans line with much more exotic colors including earth orange sucks looking back since there shoulda been more technic or general bricks in earth orange, at least these saddles will be good to get two of. also finding a saddle at the flea market is dangerous business considering what you're dealing with, just making one custom for the rahi would likely work best since stirrupts are real fragile on the scala one apparently

how do i make a turquoise turaga that isn't just jungle slizer, who is also the most efficient way of getting turquoise connectors

>>11798855 Turaga with the same build and function as the ones in the sets, or a custom build? You could use a different color for the secondary. Sand green or olive could be cool and might make you have to improvise around their more limited part selection.

>>11797115(OP) I miss BIONICLE. I was reading of the Makuta recently and was loving what I was finding out on them (like since Teridax sent them to die in the storms, it essentially means everyone there, Bitil and Chirox were actually recognized as competent enough to be a threat to him for example) Why did LEGO kill this off man? This was amazing.

>>11802932 They weren't able to keep up the momentum back then and sales declined, the lack of continuous media probably didn't help, and while it was cool to get different characters all the time, the continually existing and upgrading cast of Ninjago keeps the audience familiar, even to those not actively following the media. Though, they tried that with Hero Factory, so who knows if Tahu and friends could have been the only main heroes for so long (and of course, a fully buildable set isn't quite like a minifigure with alternating prints). It still lasted nearly 10 years, which is pretty incredible for an original theme.
And then G2 had... a lot of flaws, but probably most egregious was the presentation and storytelling. It had some strengths, but it was mostly flash with no substance.
I'd like to think they'd be able to do something better nowadays, but who knows. If they never make more we at least have the stories that already exist.

>>11803002 Entirely possible. Honestly, I'm ok with change, and I know I won't always be the audience. For example with Transformers and the various series, I'll like some, I won't like others, but with that continuous iteration the brand continues to thrive, though the focus recently has turned to the adult fans (I guess kind of like the addition/focus on the Legacy and Legends in Ninjago). I'm not of the mindset that if a new version of a story I enjoy comes out and I don't like it, that it somehow tarnishes what already exists, kind of like G2 and G1, the former's existence does nothing to G1, and if anything it makes us appreciate the depth of it more.
If Bionicle G3 happened and was a character builder via SCCBS, I'm sure it won't be for everyone, but maybe kids will come to like it, and long time fans will get a bone or two thrown at them, while other long time fans will just be happy to support a brand they've enjoyed for a long time. Same thing if it was minifigure focused. CMF Tahu seems to be quite popular, so of course some people are speculating that this was a litmus test of sorts, and who knows.
>>11802976 >and sales declined That was because of the joint issue but Lego sycophants will never admit that

Anonymous05/30/26(Sat)17:52:56
>>11803057 maybe the lore got convoluted and boring, and bionincle would have benefited from not having a solid timeline. the entire series is about mystery, much like Legend of Zelda not directly connecting it's games with a timeline, so it would have benefitted if a new team was made without direct connection to the previous team but more of a legend with no clear number on how much time had passed

Anonymous05/30/26(Sat)18:47:08
>>11803057 >>11803061 it was for a couple of reasons lego execs apparently didn't care for bionicle and hadn't for a number of years before cancelling it part quality started declining in 2007 with the lime issues and then the following years with the square sockets being weaker than the older round ones the story had gotten too convoluted for kids to follow or get in to and sales had been steadily decreasing for a number of years, with 2009's apparently being low enough to justify canning it

>>11803111 I couldn’t even read english properly and loved where the story went when I was a kid. I feel the bigger issue really was in the marketing and the like instead.
>>11803057 The joint issue was huge cause these are toys at the end of the day. The story is cool for those that were really into it but you need the sets themselves to be stuff that people want to buy. If you buy a set that breaks you're not gonna want to get another. What was originally something with mask collectability, action features and something you could combine sets together, they became basically regular action figures by the end of it.

>>11797115(OP) I got two tahus. The scalpers hit my city hard for Lloyds and Tahus. So when I finally found two tahus, I grabbed them both. One for general use and one for long storage. Normally I would leave one for a child who'd get some joy out of getting him. But the only people who care about bonkles are millennial manchildren and the scalper douchebags would hoover him up before any children got him anyway. I wonder if LEGO will do the rest of the toa. I also picked up a Prowler from the Spiderverse cmf series. He was a bit difficult to find, as was Miles and Gwen. Even though I didn't pick those up. I wonder if LEGO is producing minifigs in uneven numbers.

Anonymous05/31/26(Sun)03:02:36
>>11803111 >the story had gotten too convoluted for kids to follow or get in to I feel like many fans seem to attribute too much importance to the story in this regard. None of the kids where I lived had any idea of the story outside of the movies, the ads and some of the (mostly non-canon) online content. And many kids knew even less about the story. But the toys were still popular. I guess marketing, atmosphere/style and an implied lore were still important. But the main problems were probably the fragile joints, the sameish builds and the rising prices. And in 2009 Bionicle already switched to that plain "generic elemental hero in bright colors" style Hero Factory and G2 also had. That was probably a factor too. >>11803509 >I wonder if LEGO will do the rest of the toa. Very unlikely. We only got a Tahu minifigure because there are some Bionicle fans among the designers at Lego and one of them worked on this CMF series.

Thinking back, what really derailed the story for me was Metru Nui. I was well into all the Mata Nui era stuff (I had every book from that era on release) it all built up to Takua becoming Takanuva and giving Makuta a big defeat. Then it was all immediately thrown into the freezer. A couple of years later, we're finally back to where we left off and Takanuva gets sidelined and the Toa Nuva immediately job. Hurray.

Anonymous05/31/26(Sun)04:52:27
>>11803582 Same here. All I knew was of the Mask of Light but when the story got to the past I couldn’t care less. My mind as a kid was more that I already knew who those guys were in the present, and anything else woupd end up in square 1. Like even nowadays that I value those things exposing the past of the story, I still feel Metru Nui was a boring arc.

Anonymous05/31/26(Sun)05:40:03
>>11803582 >Takanuva gets sidelined and the Toa Nuva immediately job. This was a really weird choice. At least one of these things shouldn't have happened. If the Toa jobbed, then you could have Takanuva lead a new Toa team for a time with all his old Matoran friends, or just have the Nuva have to do something else. I get that it was supposed to raise the stakes and introduce a fresh new team, but haven't we learned anything from the '86 TF movie?

>>11803582 afaik bionicle was planned to have this big multi arc story spanning 7 parts which were 3 years each 2001 - 2003 was mata nui, 2004 - 2006 was metru nui, 2007- 2009 was the 'heart island', etc some time around 2003 some of the older planners began to leave for various reasons, and eventually that was whittled down to just farshtey after 2005 apparently 2004 being a flashback year was always intended, but somewhere along the line it was condensed down into being one year instead of three, then boosted to two after it was decided to not use metru nui for only the one year (which is why 2005 is such a nothingburger for story impact) i'm not entirely sure what the original 2004 story was supposed to be, i do know that krekka and nidhiki were supposed to be vahki captains and then became dark hunters later on, but i don't know if they were actually characters before that and that the dark hunter autism was entirely farshtey being an edgelord
