Hey guys, anyone know who these G1 Glup Shittos, who I’ve highlighted in red on pic related, are. I’ve been coloring this art as a way to pass time and I cannot for the life of me figure out who the fuck these guys are. I’ve even tried combing through the wiki’s list of G1 cartoon transformers, drones, and aliens, and I still couldn’t find them.
>>11814015 >>11814008 Thanks /tfg/! Knew I could count on your guys’ collective autism to remember and identify a specific type of unnamed drones which only appeared in a single episode. Back to coloring I go.
As thanks, uh… I offer up this Alana redesign that Churino_ did: https://twitter.com/Churino_/status/1902754549653250369

>>11814027 The fact that they're right next to Deceptitran should've been a clue.
>>11814056 Churino_ posts transformer redesigns pretty regularly. You can find most of them here: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipO19_5b62YGNbj-nUm7D4VNYDd6tLx5axQ61iDYuvciYtC8JizvnfK1meugZbNe8g? Though there’s a fair amount missing for that that you’d need to go digging through their Twitter posts to find. I use nitter for that, personally: https://nitter.tiekoetter.com/Churino_/media?view=grid
I like that a lot of the designs look very plausible to turn into fairly accurate toys. It kind of reminds me of back when Andrew Sorohan (asorohanart) was still alive and drawing up entire imaginary toylines.
>>11814114 Churino_ also recently made about 33 designs of varying complexities, which actually included a rough guide to how their transformation would work for a toy. (Some of them are a bit faint and hard to make out.) None of which are in that Tf A-to-Z gallery. Instead of flooding the thread with images, I’ll just link them in one long, ignorable post: 7 Female Autobots: https://nitter.tiekoetter.com/Churino_/status/2029192729796771916 Arcee: https://nitter.tiekoetter.com/Churino_/status/2018524818161979903 Strika: https://nitter.tiekoetter.com/Churino_/status/2030709910745268329 Masterforce Sari: https://nitter.tiekoetter.com/Churino_/status/1996771205689598067 A Hotrod/Rodimus and an Optimus who’s trailer becomes a motorcycle (pic related): https://nitter.tiekoetter.com/Churino_/status/1996301038488338828 Sexy female Optimus: https://nitter.tiekoetter.com/Churino_/status/2027400863052907002 The OCs of 4 other users: https://nitter.tiekoetter.com/Churino_/status/2028902582920310920 https://nitter.tiekoetter.com/Churino_/status/2025275430257783076 https://nitter.tiekoetter.com/Churino_/status/2020988010049745139 https://nitter.tiekoetter.com/Churino_/status/2019847353725850038 And a thread of a Diaclone, 9 minicons, Solus prime, Super and base mode Splendid Convoy, Quintessa, and 2 versions of their own Tf-sona: https://nitter.tiekoetter.com/Churino_/status/2016732089731752247
Most of these look plausible, and I’d love to try 3D modeling them out, to see if I could make them work. One day, when I’m better at modeling I’ll probably give it a try. That and recreate Jizaitoys designs so that I can actually print and own any of that shape-witchcraft.
>>11814135 kickass. any beastformers in there? I've always been fond of this design.. I realize it cheats a little, but it'd make an excellent show mode at least, for a redo that tried to cheat a bit less and be closer to potential new toys. You hear that, Hasbrony? Instead of the shitty netflix thing you did...

>>11814135 I wish the kids line and collectors line were one thing. Basically what I mean is we got all brand new designs but meant for collectors (and kids too obviously) The japanese g1 guys are kinda what I mean and I'm glad stuff like that is happening.
It weird how we only got 1 repaint of this guy and it was a Botcon exclusive. Maybe no one really liked him compared to Optimal Optimus or the original but he was my favourite.

>>11814141 I've harped on him before, but I really think he's a downright lousy design. In fact, I'm noticing even more problems here, like his shoulder-pauldron gaps.
>>11814143 I just love robot monkeys on surfboards

>>11814027 The only change I'd make to this is the oars should be up the spine like porcupine quills
Goddamn I hate how g1 obsessed this era of transformers is. Thank God we've got Overgear and Collaboration coming in with a bit of flavor. I heard they're doing Fast and Furious cars next, and it's kinda ridiculous we haven't had a contemporary sports car outside of the movies since... What... Alternators? We're stuck with the same assortment of 80s fairladies and lambos every few years.
>>11814137 I dig this but I'm not gonna ignore that there's now a very Geewunner style fanbase of Beast Wars. If they make a new beast wars, I think it would be a mistake to have the same cast and same beasts.

>>11814154 >now a very Geewunner style fanbase of Beast Wars.
What are the chances we will ever see a new Scavenger? I'd love to have one that isn't a gigantic brick.

Anonymous06/08/26(Mon)08:58:02
>>11814154 Would be funny to get some of the g1 cast as beasts though. Make an official one of that bull sideswipe, for example, or have the kid appeal yellow character be a literal bumblebee.

>>11814165 Just something I've been seeing more and more of. People treating the original lineup as sacrosanct, a perfectionism and resistance to compromise that I associate with a certain mindset of G1 fan. Someone for whom no Masterpiece Optimus has quiiiite got it right yet. In the case of Beast Wars, I've seen lots of calls for a new dinobot or a new Cheetor. The ones we have aren't perfect but they're pretty decent and you have lots of options to choose from already. I love Rhinox and think they still haven't quite made the perfect one yet but I'm not holding my breath for another one.

>>11814175 >People treating the original lineup as sacrosanct, a perfectionism and resistance to compromise that I associate with a certain mindset of G1 fan
Yeah, but the key difference is that we're right and Beast Wars was actually perfect.

Anonymous06/08/26(Mon)09:25:12
>>11814143 >his shoulder-pauldron gaps. That's because whoever transformed him didn't push his backpack down all the way - normally, those shoulder pads sit flush on top of his arms.
00
Anonymous06/08/26(Mon)09:31:54
>>11814175 >People treating the original lineup as sacrosanct You've got to understand - because the cast was so small, you got to know the cast a whole lot better than in G1, where characters would regularly rotate in and out as the plot needed them. Everyone was a recurring character, everyone had particular ways that they played off of each other - even across faction lines - and because of that, adding or removing members changes the entire chemistry of the cast that fans of the show grew to love. It's understandable that people would be resistant to that, since it's what made the show what it is.

>>11814192 >11814141 My bad, I didn't realize you WERE talking about Apelinq, I'm tired.
>>11814193 >Beast Wars fans are Genwunners and Tooners.
I know you put them in quotation Mark's but no it doesn't make sense at all. Keep in mind the only place I talk about Transformers is here but I have seen so much love for non show toy characters, Transmetals, I've never seen anyone complain that new toys dont look like the toon. I actually have no idea what that guy is talking about or where he's seen it either.
Holy shit why did japan get all these amazing lottery figures. There are so many 100% gold chrome ones but I cant find good pictures

Anonymous06/08/26(Mon)10:06:49
They did a lucky draw movie prime in metallic that was absolutely gorgeous, which reminds me. I need a new Movie Prime. What's out there in the same vein as RotF Leader Prime? You know, big and has real chest windows.
I know neither are really good, but should I go for Earthrise or SS86 Arcee? 86 seems to have a better (actual) transformation but I kinda like the sculpt on Earthrise more.
00
Anonymous06/08/26(Mon)11:02:00
>>11814239 Earthrise car looks fat an you need to remove half of it for transformation or have a massive backpack, if you don't care about that then get that one if you like the robot mode better.
>>11814239 I prefer Earthrise if that helps you. Yeah, the transformation (if you can call it that) and alt mode are not good. But there are other things to consider about figures also. Looking at it more holistically, 86 has worse washed out colors and is really spindly and stick-like. Earthrise bot is much better imo. As a plus side you can get her cheap as dirt (though I guess that probably applies to both)
