>>11814184(OP) I loved this movie a lot, had so much fun with it. Skeletor was peak and I freaking loved the dream sequences, so funny. I think I'm gonna get the core He Man, Skeletor and Battle Cat. A shame we most likely will not get a sequel but I tell you, I was surprised by the sequel bait choices they made, I was expecting the Snake Men for a sequel not what we got as a tease. But usually when we get to that character the franchise kind of stops. Happened with every iteration it seems be it 200x, Kevin Smith or CGI.

>>11814188 Also, I'm surprised Skeletor had no origin story at all, he just is... the villain (and he loves it and I loved him for that). Was kinda refreshing. They made it seem like he was always a skull face guy.
Now that most of you lads watched the new movie, do you think the cancelled 2008 movie adaptation called Grayskull which was to be more serious would've been better?
Full script: http://torquemod.com/grayskull-the-masters-of-the-universe-justin-marks.pdf
I'm also trying to find all concept art from that version, here's Skeletor (which has the gold skull mask instead of skull face, though it would be revealed at the end of the movie his real face was already decaying a becoming a skull anyway). I can't remember who was supposed to direct this, I think John Stevenson?
>>11814210 Call it Skeletor: Master of the Universe Obviously "Adam's life is ruined by corporate wokeness and only Eternia can make manhood worth living" didn't land with Zoomers, so they should have left Earth out and gotten through the Prince getting the sword quickly to keep Skeletor on-screen more.

Just keep going to see it. Support it with your money. Show that there's love for the film.

>>11814191 Pretty sure Ninjor takes them handily. He's more versatile and has to stealth to let them fight it out. If they figured him out would either of them stop? Either that or Tri-Klops with range. Lasers > crossbow bolts.
here's hoping 200X keeps burning through figures. what have we still got left in the main cast? Mekaneck, Fisto, Kobra Khan, Two Bad, and Stinkor are the last of the heroic and evil warriors methinks. Then it's all Snakemen, Evil Horde, and Marzo/Evil Seed.
>>11814314 >Mekaneck, Fisto, Kobra Khan, Two Bad, and Stinkor are the last of the heroic and evil warriors methinks. Then it's all Snakemen, Evil Horde, and Marzo/Evil Seed. No way are they going to count 200X Kobra Khan as an Evil Warrior. His debut episode had him never loyal to Skeletor for a second, but trying to speedrun to the King Hiss level of the dungeon. His toy was packaged as a Snake Man too.

Anonymous06/08/26(Mon)14:48:00
>>11814314 >>11814322 Yeah, Snakes and Horde are untouched but it's funny how every leftover character is somehow specific, maybe except for Stinkor - the only interesting thing about him is that it's only would be his second figure and first articulated 200X Stinkor.
Mekaneck - the last character if you want all characters from intro or just members of both teams from first story or first season.
Randor - Also from first story but technically not team member. Also technically had Origins figure already.
Fisto - only new member of second season, would have Snake Hunter logo randomly.
Faker - had 2002 figure but technically not cartoon character so very skippable.
Kobra Khan - Not really an Evil Warrior.
Two-Bad - vintage Two-Bad fans would lose their marbles.
I wonder what accessory some would have. I dont recall Stinkor or Fisto using their weapons.
>>11814432 The question if some specific versions of characters are required for Origins or if getting variants of them is good enough is something that keeps me up at night as I deliberate.
00
Anonymous06/08/26(Mon)15:27:31
>>11814433 My headcanon was always that Khan would eventually betray the snakes and fully join Skeletor, when he realizes fully that freeing Hiss didn't get him the accolades he wanted and seeing how team Skeletor even jokes like Clawful and Stinkor are still treated like "one of the team".

Anonymous06/08/26(Mon)15:27:49
>>11814448 >>11814432 I could settle for 1 karg. Goatman though... Dian is pure sexo but I don't think there's enough to draw from in the newspaper strip to make a worthwhile figure compared to her palace guard skin tight costume.
00
Anonymous06/08/26(Mon)15:36:20
>>11814448 Here's how I answer the question: Is cartoon Two Bad good enough? Do you even need vintage Two Bad?
If you answered no to the former and yes to the latter, then it's end of story. You don't get to tell the guy wanting GB Goat Man that movie is good enough for them, or vintage Catra that toon Catra is good enough for them and so on
00
Anonymous06/08/26(Mon)15:41:48
>>11814453 At least include alt heads then...movie head, helmet newspaper strip head and "Prince Valiant" hair head

Anonymous06/08/26(Mon)15:42:38
>>11814466 a CC design that sold out in minutes hardly counts, no, I want the vintage.
00
Anonymous06/08/26(Mon)15:52:58
>>11814477 I'm not just talking about the Filmashit one that already exists. They could make one more assortment of 200x and put a Toon Bad there (hypothetically). How does that idea strike you? Same questions as above. If they did that, are you satisfied or still asking vintage regardless?
00
Anonymous06/08/26(Mon)16:04:24
>>11814466 Makes sense I just prefer to have that that is idk...neutral? Detached?? Corporate? Not sure how to call it.
The point is that for example many people would like Rattlor with working gimmick and that's fair for each of them as their own opinion and preference as they choose how to spend their money.
But in the end there is no question that vintage Rattlor is done. He gets a checkmark as finished. Just as Man-E-Faces despite not having vintage design, Beast Man with closed mouth, Evil-Lyn without glowing in dark wand or say, Snake Trooper despite that he has wrong legs and weapon, I count them as done.
Or say how in Classics did POP characters or movie characters, despite that they could have more vintage-accurate designs.
But I don't feel like giving checkmark to Two-Bad. It feels like we're still need vintage design just as we needed vintage Mer-Man even though LOP Mer-Man was released first and was very popular.
And I'm not sure how far it goes. For example, most people seem happy with Queen Marlena without needing a new "vintage" design to match Randor.
So if someone thought it would be cool to have Karg in Origins to finally go with Blade, Saurod and Gwildor, would 2026 Karg be good enough
Before anyone asks, yes I am autistic.

>>11814226 If the movie was $200 million to make with an estimated (But unconfirmed) $12.3 million spent on marketing, and a current weekend total of $54.3 million globally secured that means every single person that went to the theater and watched the movie would need to go pay to see it again for the studio to break even, and every single person that saw the movie so far would need to watch it a third time or fourth time for the movie to make any profit. I'm not optimistic about those chances.

>>11814200 >>11814206 I still believe it would have been better. Same with the Justice League movie they were trying to make around that same time.

>>11814200 No, while this current movie might be a bit too silly, that script was way too serious, and felt like the typical Hollywood adaptation problem of making an origin for everything where by the end of the movie it finally feels like masters of the universe. He man and skeletor weren't he man and skeletor until the finale of the movie. A lot of prominent characters were also killed left and right in that movie, like I'm pretty sure keldor kills evillyn in a rage half way through the movie.
Overall what we got is a better film for the property.

>>11814544 It's MOTU reimagined to fit within the confine of 2000's cool. It'd have been our equivalent to the bayformer films. Skipping over a milestone like that just to jump into the namby pamby social justice era of entertainment didnt do us any favors, even in spite of how well Knight handled the themes of his movie. I know there's alot of resident anons who despise the idea of edgy MOTU but I still want it. A movie adaption going off the tone of the early minicomics would have been great.

>>11814544 Bayformers Sideswipe is way better than the original Sideswipe, but im still sad there's no news for sequels for TF One
>>11814559 NTA, but I cant shake the feeling we're on the cusp of another mass extinction for pop culture. Once the Gen X'ers hit retirement what's left of the toy industry and the boy's toy market will just continue to contract in size until nothing but maybe lego and hot wheels remain. Nothing's sticking and anytime a surprise success crops up the people incharge go out of their way to snuff the life out of it. Shit's grim.

Anonymous06/08/26(Mon)17:06:39
>>11814571 Gen X’er here. I have the flowing that nowadays those corporations want to consolidate the boys and girls toys together for more non-gender conforming franchises.

>>11814531 Thank you for being realistic. This is a massive bomb. There is no way it comes even close to half way where it needs to be to break even. There is no sugar coating it.
In the previous thread when asked if any first films in a franchise bombed at the box office but still spawned sequels, people said >D&D Which is wrong. That film also bombed. Although it did much better than MOTU and with a smaller budget, yet still killed the potential franchise. >and "several horror films" But I honestly can't think of a single first horror film in a franchise that bombed yet still continued on with other movies. Horror films are rarely big budget like MOTU was.

>>11814571 there’s still 90s nostalgia to milk, but you’re not wrong
>>11814184(OP) As I said last thread, not surprised they don't give Voltron a theatrical release even though it also has a big budget (close to $200 million like MotU) and the tone is also said to be more funny/comedic.
It also has Henry Cavill who is box office poison (just wait to see how Highlander will bomb).
I do wonder if MotU doing well on streaming will greenlit a sequel? Because Amazon is not a real movie studio after all. I mean, if they can do all 5 Rings of Power seasons they could do 2 more MotU movies...

>>11814556 I don't care, your opinion is shit and you are a retard.
Indont know how to explain it but I've never been able to get into the new origins 200x figures because of how the original 200x toys looked. They dont look bad at all but they dont have that same charm something gets lost in translation Anyone know what I mean?

>Also, why did Evil Lyn like Skeletor at all? She doesn't like him. She wants the power of a god, just like Skeletor does. But like most women, she lacks the strength and balls to take it by force. The best she can hope for is to attach herself to a man that can take the power... and then steal it from him by poisoning his drink. Skeletor knows this, and that's why he treats her like a dog.

>>11814768 Forget that, he doesn't know the first thing about women
>>11814200 First and foremost it's a kids brand and while it can hold mature materials the story is bascaily the world of Conan the Barbarian with a Superman like protagonist, the evildowers are comparable to the villains and monstersyou see on a Sentai show. This means the more serious you make it the less it works like it's source and you get at best something like 2007 Transformers film where the things it holds to the original is the mostly a thread bare plot and their names to at worse 2009 GIJoe Rise of Cobra film where it has so little related it might as well just be a new brand.
I rather it be a film made for young kids and be silly than whatever happen to Transformers over the last 20 years.
