A lot of people fundamentally did not want 2XKO to do well due to a variety of reasons. No motions, extremely small roster for a 2v2, disliking Riot, disliking vanguard, perceived overhype, rocky/long development time with multiple full direction switches leading to lost dev time, there are plenty of reasons on the list. Some more legit than others but the end result was pretty broad dislike all the same. Social media is extremely hate-centric right now because it's so profitable. A lot of the general populace seems more interested in rooting for games to fail than wanting to genuinely give new stuff a shot.
The layoff post was handled about as poorly as it could be in the modern social media environment. A lot of that hate-centric social media machine ran with a narrative that the title was already DOA/EOS. A lot of people needed some sort of sign of life/fight from Riot.
Despite all of this, the game is undeniably extremely saucy. The inputs may be simple but it's a very deep game to lab, and the game is still asking you to do things like 1-3 frame link at times. It might be one of the sauciest fighting games in the modern market atm. Strive 2.0 wasn't earth shattering, SF6 fatigue is getting severe, Tekken is... yeah, Avatar is a couple of months out, Tokon even longer. So in this window, 2XKO dropped a beefy patch that I think restored some confidence in the game's future. They've pushed the roster fairly hard. 5 characters in 6 months now. It helps that the 2 newest characters are very stylish/cool. The game will ride or die based on how successfully they can serve up new characters that more new people want to play/weren't actively served already.
For now, the vibes are pretty damn good and so is the game.
>>740842439 it's the 2D>Stinger Aim HS>FRC>jK air combo. I can dash after doing FRC fine but for some reason the timing on this combo is really strict. It's probably char dependent too

>>740855769 Umm theres new avatar shit coming up so they need to adverstise
>>740855603 >grab a random IP >have a team of 10 people or so >hire a couple of mvc2 players or something to design the game >pump it out 3 months >the maximillions and all those youtube cattle people will just shill it for free because they have nothing to show their audiences anyway >profit

>>740856212 this is how arc got rich with dbfz and now tokon. Granted it only works for actually popular IPs and they had to work on a lot of smaller ones to get the name recognition
>>740858609 Got his ass beat in 3, so nothing really happened.
By the time of SF6 the Illuminati are a public organization that puts ads in billboard to promote their religion, slowly chugging along waiting for their passive social victory.

>>740858609 He's still alive and still a villain along with Seth too. Both are not the current main antagonists right now. Maybe SF7 will bring back the Illuminati.

>>740858283 >this is how arc got rich with dbfz and now tokon eh, I think that's a bit disingenuous, dbzf is a real game with a full production, tokon we'll have to wait and see, it probably won't be as supported as dbz and will probably also be more of a cashgrab because disney not really fair to compare with these games that have no budget at all and are only made to turn a quick profit on release and will be forgotten 2 weeks in by design
