>See in the comments, hey dev i bought 10 copies for my friends

>>741138350(OP) I bet it's something nobody is interested in, of course the people that actually play it say it's good but most of the people that wouldn't like it aren't gonna give it a chance at all

>Mesoké is a poetic and introspective flying game, an invitation to an inner journey through dreamlike, symbolic, and emotional worlds. >Glide freely through ever-changing landscapes, skim close to obstacles to gain energy, and discover suspended worlds somewhere between dreams, memories, and emotions… all carried by a contemplative, sensory, and wordless experience. Do people really put out shit like this and expect to sell a million copies? Look at all the indies that get successful. They are all GAMES with GAMEPLAY, not artsy-fartsy "poetic experiences." If you want to make something like that, fine, but don't feel entitled to commercial success.

I mean it looks nice and I'm vaguely interested in the flight system but it's not at all my kind of game.

looked at it on steam and the promo video is shit, it just makes the game look boring as fuck if that's all there is to it, then it doesn't surprise me that he didn't sell any copies the advantage with these kind of indie games is that the budget is fairly low so you can be a bit more experimental and try to fill a niche that was unserviced. if you fail, whatever, it's not that big of a loss, but if you correctly predicted a niche, you can make an assload of money with it.
>>741138350(OP) this game isn't even pirated. even pirates have ignored it kek

It's well passed time to stop sucking off indies. For every genuinely good indie game there is a thousand sloppy flops.

>>741139923 This is the most boring fucking image, with a title that doesn't fucking mean anything. If people see some bullshit foreign word as a game title, they will immediately gloss over it.

>>741138350(OP) >Spend a few months working on a game >Game flops >Whine on twitter, claim it took you years to make >12 gajillion retweets >Game becomes successful out of pity I'm beginning to think this is the new meta. instead of paying advertisers and getting the word out the normal way, you just have a pity party on twitter and it gets circulated for absolutely free

>>741145641 Yes, and a very small fractional amount is still just a fraction. You're taking extra steps to say the same thing.
00
Anonymous06/15/26(Mon)14:08:56
>>741145076 Saying "a fraction" is also a tautology, since both 9/10 and 90/10 are fractions just like you mentioned, so it could be any number larger or smaller than the original

>>741147043 Not games, but it's worth noting that books published under Stephen King's alter ego Richard Bachman never reached any of the sales of the books that King released under his name. You could argue that the Bachman books aren't as good, but it points to quality not the sole deciding factor for success. >>741147131 What of it?

>>741138350(OP) >What do you think? This is one of those games where you just watch the trailer and feel like you've already seen all of it. People need a premise to give a fuck, instead of blooming some gay-ass flowers in your "palace" you should uncover a story, reveal a mystery, give people a reason to play it instead of feeling satisfied just watching a 10 second clip of your gameplay, you don't even need to change the overall vibe of the game, just give it purpose.

>>741138834 >it should be a hobby first and foremost You shouldn't drop out of your actual work to make a game, you won't, in any way, sell millions of copies out of nowhere without any advertising or going viral, that's just impossible. You won't be the one in a million to make it.
