>What is Elite Dangerous? Elite Dangerous is a massive space simulation game set in an almost 1:1 recreation of the Milky Way galaxy, with over 400 billion star systems to explore in a shared server. The is a focus on piloting and spaceship building. There is no real end game so it is up the the player to find out what they want to do.

I really want to build a tourism based orbis around that planet.
00
Anonymous04/28/26(Tue)12:38:08
>>2399471 Usually, you need about two tourism installations to overpower whatever inherent economy comes from the planet, so it can be done so long as it has three orbital slots.
00
Anonymous04/28/26(Tue)16:25:03
>>2399945 This is terrible news for my planned tourism system. Guess I'm gonna have to build fifty tourist settlements to overpower them with weak links.
>>2399471 >>2399945 Question for the colonizers: can I swing an asteroid base into a tourism primary economy? I see asteroid bases listed as extraction economy, but is it possible to overpower it with tourism installations?
00
Anonymous04/28/26(Tue)18:43:21
>>2400887 you def can if you build it somewhere with enough additional slots to spam strong links
00
Anonymous04/28/26(Tue)19:03:19
>>2400887 So long as you have lots of tourism economy links like installations and settlements, yes
00
Anonymous04/28/26(Tue)19:08:49
>>2400912 >>2400972 It'll only have one orbital slot available after I build it, will it be enough? Or will I have to spam installations everywhere to get it to a high enough percentage?
00
Anonymous04/28/26(Tue)19:11:25
>>2400887 Not certain, but my first instinct is no. All asteroids have only one building slot (the base itself) that is inherently Extraction, so your only strong link is playing against you. You would need to build a shitload of nothing but Tourism buildings everywhere else in the system and pray the sheer number of Weak links are enough to sway the economy... only you can't do only that because there are only four Tourism installation types (Two orbitals, the Hub, and the three sizes of Settlement which are all the same thing) and all of them are Tier 2, so you need to build some Tier 1 shit elsewhere to afford the yellow points for them.
Like, maybe if you get the perfect Asteroid surrounded by a massive amounts of planets with slots to fill with Tourism buildings, and a secondary star far away with also slots you can use for no-impact Tier 1 shit like Colony outposts and Satellites... But it would look like ass, be a whole lotta work and I'm still not sure it would work.
What is the best way to get into RP in Elite Dangerous? Outside of adopting an NPC faction as my own faction and colonizing for it and working on its BGS, I have no idea how people RP on this game. I know some groups do RP, but it all seems insular, is there some sort of wider RP discord or community or something? No weird erpers required, but if they do that too that'd be appreciated

Anonymous04/28/26(Tue)19:21:25

Anonymous04/28/26(Tue)19:24:45
>>2401002 >All asteroids have only one building slot (the base itself) that is inherently Extraction, so your only strong link is playing against you. But you can build asteroid bases in rings around planets, which can have multiple orbital slots.

Just made my first billion doing exobio. I want to get into combat more, eventually AX stuff, but I play using an xbox controller. Haven't tried FA off yet, and my controller doesn't have lateral thrusters mapped. One mapping I've seen uses yaw-into-roll and no separate yaw. Is subbing yaw with lateral thrusters a functional idea?
>>2401028 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Vvl7uaR1sfI check out his other vids too, RPing just by utilizing mechanics (like pirating or bounty hunting players) seems like the best option and in game and doesn't require blogging on fagcord or leddit
>>2403943 >doesn't require blogging on fagcord or leddit >how the fuck am i supposed to meet erpers then I don't want blogging or reddit but i do like adding discord rp to it Thanks for the vid though, I've had encounters with people but 90% of (((hostile))) players are just gankers looking to kill defenseless CG ships and nobody actually worth talking to

>spend several weeks building influence for chosen faction in my colonized system >spend another week fighting the war to make them the primary controlling faction >spend another week and a half building up my system, then another 3 days building a coriolis >coriolis is handed over to the faction I fought a war against to gain control of the system for my faction >have to fight another fucking war to HOPEFULLY gain control of the coriolis I am really starting to fucking hate this game.
But really, don't even touch that shit until you finished building everything. They hand out installations like they're free samples.

Anonymous04/29/26(Wed)21:54:56
>>2405690 If you wait until you've built up the entire system, then you'll have to play installation roulette with the wars trying to get the stations you want in the correct hands. It's better to do it when there's less to go around, so you're likelier to get the correct station.

One good thing about this mission is you get to see the damaged stations.
Also after a few missions I'm getting like 11 million per run.

I hate dodecs, they're just bigger, worse versions of a coriolis looks and docking wise. I hate having to hunt for the fucking mailslot every time I arrive at one.
And that's all the big groups are building now.
00
Anonymous04/30/26(Thu)20:35:22
>>2405661 BGS sucks ass unless you have a group/squadron doing it with you and even then it still sucks bc of exactly what you described. Everything takes 2 weeks minimum and only 1 station/settlement can change hands per conflict, it's awful
>>2408513 they are pretty annoying to find the mailslot in yeah, but they have a good selection of stuff >>2408638 influence and wars being on a daily tick are pretty chill, but the fact wars only transfer 1 random place at a time is retarded >>2408917 i wont get the caspian because its a fatass ship that cant land anywhere, useless for exobiology which is 90% of the reason to explore in the first place
the one great thing about this game though is its a great way to meet cute troons, ive already made my own little harem to help me push my bgs faction
>Station is on fucking fire >Random rescue volunteers are your only chance to live >Still refuse to board a rescue vessel except in anything but indivisible groups and only if there is sufficiently swanky accommodation

>>2410835 >>2410842 issue with gankers is they arent even remotely fun to interact with, they just instagib you and then its over i get why carebears exist and dont play in open, its not because the pvp combat is unfair, its because its not fun
>>2411391 sometimes under the right conditions rings can reflect light pretty hard which makes them glow, they reflect based on their color vs. the color the star gives off pretty rare, definitely cool to find a pink one thats all spread out like that around a world that looks molten the planet is probably right beside a star, you can see how it casts a small direct shadow on the only part the sun isn't beaming down on

>>2410378 This shit pisses me off. It seems to do with the Business class having more room for medcial tables or something.
>>2410835 CGs are one of the few places you see a lot of players. I don't understand griefers in this game, outside powerplay you don't get anything.
The reason they exist is cause of solo mode. In a real game a bunch of people who show up and blast others who try to start shit. In this game if someone fights back they combat log and then hide in solo.

>>2411584 That's what I was wondering too. Like yeah, of course your iclipper wins against the unengineered lynx. Now I can maybe understand if I was in a hauling ship with loot to steal, but I packed my space 737 full of economy cabins and downgraded as much as I could to save weight. Shooting me is the equivalent of shooting fish in a barrel for zero reward. How exactly is that fun? And getting into a fight with them doesn't prevent them from logging? What an oversight.
