There's not much SR worth considering later on anyway. Tachyon+light+kitasan are already half of the mandatory deck for GL. Not much space for power card too regardless.

The speed does depend on track distance.
According to my calculator, a 1200 Spd/1200 Guts end closer has a last spurt speed of 25.5 m/s = 91.8 km/h on a 1200m sprint, but 84.2 km/h on a 3200m long race.
I read somewhere that there is a hardcoded 30 m/s speed limit, which is 108 km/h. This must be the Tachyon limit.

I'm not disagreeing generally with your point. I just think the numbers are neat.
