Right click on the tool bar and go to settings, Hook filter duplicate lines is in text processing and there are two different ones, I have ABC one on, though it probably wouldn't hurt to try the S1S1 one too.

For making it look better you can either clear the original text via Core settings/Hook settings/ Embedded translation and then choose clear text displayed in game (someone mentioned this eats performance for them, it doesn't effect me).
Or you can go to display settings/interface settings/text area and turn the background colour to 100% opacity, you can also click on the paint brush to choose the colour you want it as well.
If you don't want the japanese to show up you can go to display settings/interface settings/ original text and click on show to turn it off
Lastly you want to right click on the text to choose to hide the toolbar, also you want draggable on only to change the size of the box for some reason.

Well, it is probably a bit cluttered now yeah….Im guessing they still won’t either because of tradition or due to how the reward system for the alien events work (such as every time after your first time showering you with vivi bucks which is ridiculously nice and would definitely be complained about if it was changed). But I can’t deny each new one will make it increasingly bloated for a new player unless they’ve got enough free time to clear it all in the two weeks.
I am reminded of Euphora’s conversation on how important introductions are in everything though and “if you missed it then you just have to pretend like you were always there” because it just feels humorously accurate. Every girl I ended up liking the most had very memorable introductions for them, and the girls I do like who didn’t got overshadowed by them due to unfortunately having little to no screentime.
