Integral? No, not in the slightest. A mildly amusing companion to the actual games, yeah, kinds. Ignoring all the heavy bullshit they did put into the game naturally. Taking that into consideration and it works out for the worse on overall.

It's where you were expected to farm berries and catch pre-gen 5 Pokemon before the League. And you could do it just after the 1st gym if you wanted to, hence DW mons generally being set to level 10.
But if you're just doing the 8 gyms and the league and some post game areas, it's not really necessary.

It's just the result of trying to use modern tech (at the time).
Save rams of NES/SNES/Gameboy cartridges were never intended to last more than 20+ years, they intended to last for as long as that generation lasted and then some more.

Pokemon wasn't even the only game at the end with "dead features" because they were experimenting with finnicky tech, games like Dragon Quest 9 had extra dungeon with boss battles features FINAL bosses of previous game, really cool stuff but you can't access anymore. The stuff in BW is silly in comparison.

Sure, I guess, but it fucking sucked, man. Fucking shit minigames, boring/laggy/slow-paced UI, and you could only get one Pokemon from it per day. Shit was a fucking chore.

The novelty of getting non-Unovan Pokemon in your game with HAs was cool, but that kinda wore off once the sequels came out with that shit baked in the main story.

If ya want to simulate the "true" experience, instead just do some boring ass chores around the house and then reward yourself by using PKhex to inject a random low-level shitmon with a HA into one of your boxes.

You can transfer from gen 4, so it's not like you can't have them.

id say take however much you think the pokewalker is important to the hgss experience and slash it by 50% and thats how much it matters
as its basically the pokewalker but less cool and convenient with even less incentives to use it

Dream World is NOT an integral part of the Gen 5 experience.

The Pokewalker is NOT an integral part of the HGSS experience.

The same is true for every other peripheral or internet connection feature in the Pokémon series.

If it's not IN-GAME, it doesn't even count.

Not really integral. It was there to get hidden abilities and berries for Pokemon if you had interest in pvp. But you could argue that Hidden abilities are integral to gen 5.

Those came later on in B2W2 and I wasn't even aware Radar had hidden ability Pokemon. To me it seemed like it was strictly there for the Therian genies.
