I haven't done update_all in probably about about a year, and now after just recently doing it, I am getting really bad audio stutter in PSX games. For example, I will boot up Ace Combat 2 or 3, and changing screens or browsing the menu, the audio will stutter. If I just let the game run without touching anything, the audio is seemingly fine and the pixels don't twitch, but one way to make it really obvious is just opening the OSD and scrolling through the menu and the audio hiccups constantly and runs at almost half speed, and each time, the pixels on the screen also shift/twitch slightly (and it looks like they are squirming nonstop if you scroll quickly on OSD).
I tried using my previous ini settings (updated them with update_all) and that did not fix it I also tried using the old PWM variant of the PSX core from 2024 and that had the same issue so it's not some issue specific to the latest version.
So basically it's not any ini setting or new core version issue, so it's something that the update_all specifically changed that caused this audio stutter and pixel twitching issue. Anyone have any idea what could possibly be causing this? The games were literally working totally fine without a single hiccup just two days ago before I updated it.
I've taken a video that hopefully shows the issue clearly: https://streamable.com/58tydu

if not trolling/reposting, just post this in the muster discord instead NIGGA
Ok. I just emulate on a 10 year old office PC and don’t have any problems like this.

>>12625406 just tried deleting all my old ini files and only putting a fresh, unaltered ini file directly from the github, still got the same issue.
It affects all PSX cores (including 2X, PWM, and PWM2X, both of which are the same older cores as before) Doesn't seem to affect Saturn (at least not in any games I tested)
Could not find any issues in Crash Bandicoot 1 or Strikers 1945 Castlevania SotN (tested in the main menu) has the audio issue in OSD/unplugging controller but the pixels do not shift at all oddly, same with MGS1
It's very odd because if I have the OSD open and just scrolling down the whole time during game bootup, you can actually see the exact moment where on the "licensed by SCEA" logo screen, the text is clear at first then suddenly starts wobbling and distorting. For the games that have no issues, the distorting only lasts for a few seconds then goes back to normal before the screen ends, but for the games with issues, the wobbling/distorting lasts until the screen is over and then persists into the game causing audio stutter (and for certain games pixel twitch/wobble) any time you use OSD or unplug controller or change resolution
Disabling the OSD for controller/res changes does not change the fact that disconnecting controller or changing res still causes audio stutter and pixel twitching. Even not going into OSD at all, transitions/loading/changing screens seem to cause this stutter/clipping.
Read another thread about a similar issue that was on Sega CD, but I tested Sega CD and the games he named, and I had no issues, so this is something different. Same for Saturn, no issues. I am using HDMI for audio, as I know there were some threads about audio issues using analog audio. And I'm also using a DE-10 board (the MiSTeraddons prebuilt from a few years back), as I know some of the clone boards can apparently have more issues, so it's not that.
If you continually scroll through the OSD during the intro cutscene of Ace Combat 2, it causes the game to screech to a halt so much that it literally freezes partway through the intro video.

>>12626124 They are in CHD, but I also just tried bin cue and had similar issue (but the way the audio sounds when it skips/stutters is slightly different).
>>12626128 I actually just did that. I wiped my microSD, flashed the latest Mr. Fusion image, took the latest update all script, updated it, changed no other settings, and it STILL did it.

>>12626348 The reason it's stuttering is because the streaming data is being interrupted by the menu, the reason for the flickering is because of interlacing. This is normal for the Playstation core when navigating the menu as they both use the ARM chip.
