I definitely get the MiSTer's appeal, but it's just a lot of work if you care about having the most lag-free and quality experience. I have a cheap one from AliExpress that I play around with sometimes, but I still have a shitty 10+ year old TV that would just add a bunch of lag anyways and I wouldn't make the most out of the CRT effects. So I would need to drop another few thousand on an OLED TV, a RetroTink to output to 4K, SNAC adapters, etc. Or I could spend a couple hundred on a chinkheld with a nice screen that I can play wherever I want, that will go beyond the PS1 the MiSTer caps out at, and I can also connect it to my TV if I wanted to, with the downside of some lag that can probably be mitigated most of the time with some RetroArch settings. If I wasn't a poorfag, maybe it'd be cool, but it mostly just collects dust. I still hope we get some FPGA handhelds that do more than what the Analogue Pocket and Chromatic do soon.

So, anyone's heard of the analogue pocket? What do you think? A friend lent me his and I really like it, has some sweet filters that emulate a GBA screen pefectly and I I wanted a device for a while now JUST to play GBA and below games (And also has a cartridge slot), it's kinda expensive, and I am not in the best financial situation, I want something like that (Anything home console I'd rather play on my PC and already own a 3DS/DSi witth flash cart but I really hate playing anything that doesn't use the bottom screen there, plus, GBA games look like shit there).

Does the Retroid Pocket have cool shaders that emulate the OG GBA screen? (Not the 2nd brighter one). That seems like a good cheaper option but still unsure, the cartridge slot isn't a make or break but it's certainly nice!

My retroid pocket 4 R2 spring broke again. This like the third one in two months. Does anyone have a recommended replacement? Is it something about the housing that is breaking them?

I really want Anbernic to take that Sega 6 button-inspired handheld of theirs and put two joysticks on it and I would be happy. If they could somehow also get dual-screen with one being a touchscreen so we could also emulate DS/3DS, then I would be even more happy but I am setting my limits low. They already have the basics, just needs joysticks.

I've seen transparent prison type ones, there was some anon a few threads ago talking/posting about them. I personally wouldn't bother unless there was serious damage. Has anyone here hacked a switch? The only mods I've seen are hardware related and you have to add a tiny ass pcb and solder some stuff.

I got it running. Cutscenes run great, music and sound are great. Gameplay is just a little laggy, but very playable
