>>4000177 It's a shame that the only one with really any postgame at all was 4

When are we getting news about RF6?

>>4000196 Since both Bokujo Monogatari and RF celebrate their anniversaries in August, I assume that's when we'll get the big announcements.

>>4000218 I would like to see the old games (1,2, Frontier, Tides) ported to modern systems but at the same time I don't want this since they would definitely alter some stuff because it's not appropriate anymore.
>>4000248 Yeah they could keep everything the same and put a "this game was done in a different era so the values don't reflect the current ones and yada yada" notice and call it a day but localizers and investors wouldn't allow it. I have a feeling they'll remake at least RF1. I just hope they don't make changes to the designs of the characters.
>>4000285 I replayed RF2 last year and Tides this year. The only one I didn't replay since ancient times is RF1 - maybe later this year...

>>4000271 problem with og trilogy is games get incrementally better so there's little point in playing anything but 3

>>4000449 2 in particular has what is essentially a super long tutorial to pick who your mom is as well. I haven't played it recently enough to remember how much the QoL jump from 2 to 3 is, but on top of that I feel like it was pretty significant.
>>4000479 Personally I want a remake of 1. Finding out the incompetent female miniboss turns into a wife candidate long after I could do anything about it was kind of disappointing, but now I know. I also kind of just miss improving weapons and armor being more simple compared to the crazy shit you can do in 3 and 4. Never played 5 or Azuma though, so I'm probably getting ahead of myself

Do you have to do the combat stuff in 4 special or is it a key part of the game. Never really played any of the RFs beyond a tiny bit of one on 3ds years ago.

>>4000800 4 is the one on the 3DS And the combat is pretty required. You can stay in town and farm crops but you won't get very far without stuff from the world outside. I personally did forcibly extend a gap between act 1 and act 2 and basically just ground up crops/played "fantasy harvest moon" while I dated and got married but it's certainly not the intended way to play any of the Rune Factories

>>4000806 Yeah it has been so long I couldn't remember if it had a fancy name. Shame. I'm not really into that kind of combat. Too old for that kind of stuff.
00
Anonymous06/14/26(Sun)21:52:57
>>4000808 Are you talking about "combat arts" or whatever the fuck they were called, or just fighting in general? Because the former is basically just magic that has an attack animation (so there's no reason you can't ignore it), but if the latter is a problem for you you're probably just better off playing harvest moon or story of seasons or whatever people do these days

Anonymous06/14/26(Sun)22:06:32
>>4000809 Well I saw the thread and remembered I had rf4s from a bundle and was curious how combat heavy it was. If its just you do it when you want to progress and its basic stuff and not grind heavy thats one thing vs "you gotta get to clvl200 to beat the omega boss so you can get corn seeds"

Anonymous06/14/26(Sun)22:28:23
>>4000812 Most of the absurd grinding only really exists for theoretical optional endless dungeon shit. So long as you keep up on your crafting to some extend the actual required combat isn't much iirc
>>4000812 I should've also mentioned that you can basically beat 90% of the game by taming monsters and using them along with NPCs in town I don't see why you couldn't just hang back and let them beat the monsters for you, especially on easy difficulty (though there are a few places where you'll have to fight alone but it's rare)

>>4000826 oh thats kinda cool, nice. Thanks again. I saw that mentioned on the game page but didn't think they would be THAT good.
>>4000830 There's actually some interesting stuff to it, like a hidden EV-like system (similar to pokemon) and a system where the gifts/food you give it will slowly increase it stats or give it status attacks And when you give them/your npc party members food, they will also get stat boosts for the day (the same ones you'd get if you ate it yourself, so for example, if you drank juice your magic would increase for a while) plus there's a few buffing spells/healing spells to help you manage it better One of the best starter pets you can get is the fairy in pic related, plus you can give her her own daily drop to boost her magic stat over time
People say Azuma was like a new tides but it didn't feel that way at all

Anonymous06/15/26(Mon)00:25:36
>>4000871 There's a lot of similarities >two canon MCs that both exist concurrently and can marry >hands-off farming (tides uses monsters, goa uses villagers but improves on tides's system by letting you have control if you like) >heavy focus on combat >sky island exploring is just ocean island exploring but in the air >no portaits, uses the character models instead
Hit a wall at the puppet boss in the mansion in rune factory 4 special. Gonna have to grind some combat exp I guess. Fight isn't remotely hard just get one shotted by the random debris while trying to heal. Is there a way to eat/heal in menu and not unpaused?

Anonymous06/15/26(Mon)07:18:13
>>4000940 I remember that being one of the more annoying roadblocks in the game, but it was mostly because I usually would rush it to unlock the character sooner than later. iirc healing with actual potions is significantly faster than food, and then magic is still faster than eating at least, but I don't think there's any getting around having to do it outside of a menu. If you haven't bothered experimenting with improving equipment, you might find that gives a pretty significant boost that could help a lot.

Anonymous06/15/26(Mon)07:27:45
>>4000943 Interesting, I have no way to magically heal yet nor have they shown off or introduced item improving I don't think yet. Day 8, pico showed up during the bean festival so I figured I'd investigate. It said recommended 18 and I hit 18 during the dungeon so I wasn't too concerned. Oh whale. Weird plot, interesting game so far.

RF1 still has the only cast of characters that I really like. They feel a bit more like Harvest Moon characters. In the later games everyone is either overdesigned or too childlike or both.
