https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXW6GFxYxsQ https://www.youtube.com/live/495WwWyS2TY?t=5427s Actually showed so far >Leaders have bodyguard >Cover system, including putting units on an elevation like buildings, looks kinda similar to DoW2 >Varied gear within a single squad >Destructible terrain, it damages units around >Reinforcement system >40 units cap >Multiple campaigns to pick from, including generated ones, but on start premade Armageddon campaign only? >There is supposed to be a narrative introduction, like in TWW3 tutorial >Planets generated by merging biomes + civilization level >Blood and gore in a base game >Seemingly much bigger maps than in TWW >Instead of Armor Piercing there seems to be a system called Firepower versus Light, Medium and Heavy >Biel-Tan spotted for Eldar with female Farseer? Macha? >Yarrick for Guard, Steel Legion not shown, only Cadia >Ghazghkull for Orks >Calgar for Ultramarines >Beta this year
>>2424187(OP) you forgot >UI takes half the screen

What they've shown so far looks nice, but I want to see someone actually play the game before I get my hopes up. Too many of these neat little touches could be messy and buggy. TWW3 was a mess at launch and I don't want a similar experience.

>>2424187(OP) I'm just sad about the faction lineup. Feels kind of basic for 40k. I want Tau.
>>2424198 could have been worse we could have gotten total war age of smegmar

Anonymous06/09/26(Tue)17:19:26
>>2425442 In my mind, 40k is frozen in time with the state of the 90s/early 2000s fluff. I just can’t take any of this new shit seriously.
00
Anonymous06/09/26(Tue)17:32:53
>>2425452 ignore primaris fluff and just think of them as true scale lore accurate marines instead of the barely taller than a guardsman canon fodder basic marines were in in 3rd/4th
00
Anonymous06/09/26(Tue)22:37:34
>>2425458 You can ignore the lore, which I do, and the visual design is okay. The issue is GW insisting on giving everything retarred copyrightable names that keep reminding me of it and I'd rather have space marine tactical squad than Adeptus Astartes(R) Primaris(TM) Intercessors(TM)(patent pending).
>>2425754 If you put the total war reskin job on rome 2 naval combat, it would be the same shit. All space combat is on a flat plane. It has ramming and shooting other ships. It's about the logistical fantasy of managing an empire. Moving your armies to different worlds and seeing your army fight from orbit and then launching a planetary invasion. I want battles like the battle of coruscant in revenge of the sith. I want land battles like the battle of hoth in empire strikes back. That's what makes science fiction total war cool. This is total war is it not? Not land only war?
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)01:11:04
>>2425728 they really should have just set it on one planet
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)01:12:37
>>2425758 also how are you supposed to rationalize the enemy launching a planetary invasion while you have a fleet in orbit it takes me out of the game
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)01:16:35
>>2425761 That's my problem with 40k lore in general. On one hand I understand it's to sell toys to play on your basement table. But on the other hand fans take the lore so serious and the write novels on this shit. But they get so mad when you suggest that it's dumb how much emphasis is put on fighting on planets like it's WW1.
>>2425758 >I want land battles like the battle of hoth in empire strikes back And I want you to stop being a homo. Guess we'll both remain disappointed, just like your parents.

Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)01:20:41
>40k be like "let's send this 4 man squad of marines onto this acre of land with pinpoint accuracy instead of just bombing them from the space ship "
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)01:22:25
>>2425772 I knew the mention of star wars would trigger you. I said it so your simple could understand because it's the most widely recognized science fiction. The rebels fighting in trenches on hoth against AT AT walkers is the same as every imperial guard fight in 40k.
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)01:23:28
>>2425773 Usually that's justified with >this location is strategically important because it is the only known producer of scrimbo bimblo from the dark age of technology, as such the facility cannot be bombed from orbit
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)01:24:00
>>2425775 Oh, I got nothing against SW. I just dislike whiny little shits like you.
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)01:26:11
>>2425777 Or the magical portal opens up and space wizards and demons come through... but they ignore the fact that orks and several others have massive navies that physically must bring armies
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)01:45:26
>>2425761 >Orkz launch a bunch of asteroids at the planet and ride them down. Most of the asteroids are empty and just used to cover the ones transporting Orkz >Space Marine ships just fire a fuckload of drop pods, too small and fast to be intercepted by anything other than ground-based anti-air >Eldar probably have thirteen different ways they can launch a land invasion without space superiority Imperial Guard who knows though, probably just accepting that they're going to be taking massive losses on the invasion and sending everyone in anyways.
>>2425247 Clearly to get you to buy the DLC. I almost wonder why they don't release with the least popular factions.
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)15:09:02
>>2425773 that 4 man squad of marines is more effective
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)16:10:39
>>2425761 How you supposed to rationalize build fucking KILOMETERS size ships for space battles instead of launch asteroids on enemy planets?
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)18:09:56
>>2425761 Without fail in the stories it's always one or more of these:
Convenient space stalemate Site is too important for Imperials to bombard from orbit Orks don't care Chaos intends to do a ritual and render the issue of orbital superiority moot Eldar fate/webway trickery
But yeah, that's not going to translate to a game unless they make spaceships either rare or unhelpful when bombarding. There's one more option, making suicide attacks to damage the enemy easy, but that doesn't make for a fun game.
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)18:44:14
>>2425991 No it's fucking stupid. 40k Lore there are supposed to be millions of people fighting these battles on a planet... a 4 man squad should not even fucking matter. Should not even be a piece of the board.
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)19:00:40
>>2425767 it's usually handwaved that human life is a replaceable resource while the archeotech on a planet is not
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)19:08:31
>>2426127 The issue is that scale of the setting is kinda retarded and it's all written inconsistently how powerful marines are supposed to be, but they are more special forces or assault/breaththrough troops.
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)19:26:12
>>2426127 one space marine is literally worth a hundred thousand guardsmen
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)19:29:34
Fairly hopeful for eldar.
Would like to either play imperial fists or just make my own super cool OC space marines. Although fuck buying this on launch lol
>>2426166 A hundred thousand ain't nothing. There were half a million of people in WW2 on the eastern front. You know that lore quote from one of the rule books talking about the imperial guard and how they have like 500k soldiers at their disposal? That ain't shit. All the tanks and manpower in that quote, the German army had a larger army just at the battle of Kursk
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)19:33:43
>>2426179 >There were half a million of people in WW2 on the eastern front yeah so 5 space marines
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)19:42:26
>>2426181 It doesn't matter if space marines are 100 feet tall, they cannot physically do very much. The lore is stupid. Every single person no matter how strong they are have a bandwidth that is small compared to a war.
>>2424194 >star wars blaster projectiles >not lasers Let me guess, every other soldier will be a black woman too, including for the space marines?
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)19:57:10
>>2426195 Of course. remember space marine 2? The imperial guard commander was an old brown woman with a Scottish accent. You didn't actually think that people would be white in the 42nd millennium did you?
>>2426200 I honestly expected a female-led society to be peaceful and benevolent, that every time I look up at the Empress it'll be like looking up at Mutti Merkel
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)20:06:52
>>2425793 >gets decimated by the fleet before they are evem close to the planet >and then on the way down >and by anti aircraft fire >and from orbit >with no logistical support Yeah totally sounds like a feasible invasion.
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)20:13:45
>>2426210 You are equally dorky for trying to apply all the considerations of war to a game or a sci fi setting, unsatisfied until it’s a fucking simulation. That’s not fun either it’s just tedious.
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)20:17:50
>>2426179 Are you new to Warhammer or something? No lore book ever said the Guard has 500k at their disposal. It’s more like 500 billion.
00
Anonymous06/10/26(Wed)20:18:12
>>2426217 This, real warfare is fucking boring. No one would even bother with melee if you wanted realism, every faction would play like Tau.
