>>112698308 nothing against One Step March and From Our Hearts, but it is so against the grain and not lovey dovey grateful mumbo jumbo. It speaks to me really and it is a glimpse as to why they succeeded. They were cute bad girls breaking rules and committing their sins, but they won.
Spoiler for the new outfit. Do not click if you don't want to be spoiled.

Lia is not my oshi (sorry) but it's so evident that she is one of the main reasons this con happened. She was able to use her own con knowledge, idol knowledge, etc. in an expensive opportunity and it turned out amazing.
>>112699910 They had a few hiccups but it worked very well for them. You could tell she was keeping up with an issues fans had too because she was always responding to them on twitter about it.
>>112693527 I had a bit of an episode and left the convention early morning hours Saturday so I missed the other concerts. Upon arriving home I was greeted with two coyotes tearing apart a black cat in the middle of my path. I’ll follow up this post shortly with my words on Lia and song interpretation.
>>112702220 Hello, yes, perfectly normal Lia fan here. First and foremost I'd like to echo previous sentiments that this convention was all about Lia and that she did an absolutely outstanding job performing for everyone and creating a confident presence as the Captain of Phase Connect's first official convention and five year anniversary. Seeing Lia's path to this point for "true believers" was an always established prophetic perfect tense moment where the purpose of Lia as the main character of Phase World really let it's self be known. The theme of the concerts like all things Phase Connect have a as above so below quality of resonance with Lia due to her singular title of 1st. While the structuring of the Grand Passage/Bon Voyage naming speaks to the company and talents at large it hits at a time in Lia's personal developmental arc that sets her clearly on a path of longevity for her industry aspirations. The proof positive development of her streaming acumen and ability to meaningfully hit targets while retaining her sense of vulnerability and struggle have always been her biggest charm point but to see her perform at this level on the crescendo of personal achievements has helped to show just how capable she is of being the conceptual lynchpin of a performance. Grand Passage and Fifth Orbit were fully faced by Lia with the Origins performance being a graceful ascension of Our Happy Virus to her premiere role in Gen One stage presence. More importantly though her Captain role in the Grand Passage performance demonstrated a talent at intergenerational cohesion and a powerful Senpai energy that saw multiple kohai talents being introduced to the stage. For the "baby" of Origins to find herself in such a commanding position at the premiere Phase Connect public performance offering shows an ability for her to hold a powerful position in creating exposure opportunities for other members of the company and being the central figure for continued stage production. I know that this is the type of content Lia was strongest with when she began this journey and to see her achieving a role as significant as this seems like the perfect placement for her in the company at large. And while I'm not fond of her character I'm super pleased that Lia was able to share this moment with Shiina an, admittedly very talented, and industry inspiration that Lia has always been very vocal about being a huge fan of. I can't thank Shiina enough for being Lia's wingman through this momentous occasion!
>>112702220 >>112702641 The Origins ori song was interesting with the theme of the Seven Deadly Sins being addressed. The gothic/metal tone to it was definitely engaging but there were several conceptual points being made across the production. First and foremost is on the concept of "sin" at all. "The wages of sin is death." Sin is attributed to "missing the mark" wherein the intention behind an act has it's meaning lost to some underlying fault or misconception. There's a scene from Jacob's Ladder that perfectly encapsulates the real meaning behind this song.

Basically it is the talents themselves admitting their short comings that created the stumbling blocks in their path to reach this point in their career. For Lia this was PRIDE. The Pride of Self at being unable to fail or thinking she was better than any particular task that was necessary for her to undertake to achieve the growth she needed to reach this point in her career. It's really a thoughtful exploration of the archetypes that the girls embodied at a conceptual level through their steaming careers demonstrating an acceptance of their short comings so that they might finally "burn away" the missed marks of their previous efforts.
>>112702954 I think that this should be the main interpretation of the lyrical content but there was a very interesting inclusion in Lia's line of the "what is a king to a god" which is, at the very least, a reference to "No Church In The Wild" ("Human beings in a mob. What's a mob to a King? What's a King to a God? What's a God to a non-believer, who don't believe in anything?") I'm sure there is a much more rich discussion of this particular lyric over the years but it speaks to the depth of the power of belief and how the Grace afforded Lia was a belief that helped to manifest this life for her which she graciously acknowledges so many times to her fans. The lyrical double meaning of "PAY TO SIN" is a great koan with the tonal implication of it being the right move but with the unspoken cost leveraged in the taunting claims of how good it feels. The No Church in the Wild connection lends an immediate degree of esoteric depth to the broader claims of the track and more importantly the environment it was introduced into. The convention scene is necessarily it's own place of sin with a complex duality of the trespasses and excesses taking place immediately beside incredibly meaningful growth and inclusion. There are people at these events who know they are "missing the mark" with the various indulgences they allow and with the 5 year point being what it is this will be a stark reminder that this "Phase" of their life is now over and they have to move on. There's a particular "Church" being built by participation in this, Tupac had a lot of allegorically relevant stuff to say about this in his comments to the Malcom X grassroots movement but that might be a schizo too far for you to all handle.

>>112699910 she alluded to feeling pressure especially because of the concerts. it's no secret she has put 2-years of effort and time trying to get the company 3d stuff off the ground, and now it is officially flying.
>>112703066 It felt like the right thing to do and I'm happy I was able to attend. Lia's continued pity of me during the karaoke was sublime and I'll always feel so lucky for her letting me make a mess in her productions. She plays along really well and the complexity of emotion it evokes is something I don't really have the means to properly express. There's something there that is knowing engagement with infinite distance not just physically but in all other capacities. It's incredibly centering in the moment and there's no pain but you only hope that the mark it leaves will last. I managed to navigate the convention well enough but got caught up too deep feeling a certain way about the other experiences I was perceiving happening for other people. I did some Day 0 trades with the random registration merch/bag and then drank through Lia's karaoke. Went down to the atrium and watched all of the people deep in their own lives. It's really nice seeing people capable of authentically engaging with themselves and others in something that obviously brings them so much joy. Day 1 I lined up late to the opener and sat at the very back with two seats open on either side of me to other convention goers and made a casual advance on the merch line. I ended up just outside of the exterior doors once they rerouted us from the lobby and got stuck infront of two very boisterous convention goers that wouldn't stop bumping into me. They kept going on about being from a "hololive dominant discord" and they were from out of state and they couldn't wait to get their tenma and uruka merch they missed out at the other conventions!!! and had several very animated exchanges with other friends they chided for having to line up further back in the line. Got into the merch hall at maybe 11:45 and went straight to the Phase Booth. Figured I might want more than ten items and lined up in the card line. A nice young chinese man next to me opened up his phone and said he was there to get merch of a talent I didnt recognize. We spoke briefly about things and after being moved around by staff a white guy infront of me decided to jump to the cash line so I said fuck it and followed. A very excited young chinese fella showed up shortly after and the three of us went on at length about the logistics of the merch arrangements. He was a little nuerotic but had an infectious energy. The white guy and I had a pleasant conversation about a shared profession and some current world trends and it was an enjoyable way to pass the time. When I got up to the cash terminal the system was down briefly but I was only buying Lia so the attendant breezed through the transaction. The person packing my order was able to fullfill it in about three minutes and I was immediately clear of the booth with my eleven items while the card line purchasers were still milling about. I immediately recognized Kohi Bean's good name from the LIA LOVE pixel standee that was linked her ages ago and I mentioned that was where I knew her from and she gave me a free sticker sheet in addition to the cute little lia throwpillow she let me rip off her display as the last one. She said I was a "real OG". Then I got the best Lia image ever print from Mins and freaked out a little bit at such a talented artist/Lia supporter was there like that. I wandered around and got a few other things before finally having the sense to get Mins to sign my print which I'm really looking forward to getting framed.
>>112704113 Before leaving the hall I stopped by the Oshii Push booth and got two of the Lia's from the take a card leave a card area. I picked up enough merch from them to get 5 out of 6 of their Frontier Alias stickers so unfortunately had to leave one of the girls out. I elected Panko and made an offhanded remark about hoping to avoid the ire of the ringodachis upon which the attendant completing my order launched into several comments about how I was going to be found suicided and end up with two self inflicted gunshot wounds in the back of my head. Just trying to match my energy? Spurned pankfan? Vivid schizophrenic auditory hallucination from being overstimulated? Who knows. I ripped a pack to return some cards to the take one leave one table, pocketed my Lia pulls, and got three Uruka pulls including a holo that I passed off to the first pair of neon green shorts I saw just outside of the merch hall doors waiting in line. I was out of there by 12:30. I took a merch haul spread for the thread and then went down to the Grand Voyage concert in my new hapi. I was too stupid to figure out that the lightstick needed a five second toggle to initially power on but wouldn't have had the werewithall to actually swing it around anyways. The concert was really such a moving experience on it's own merit but seeing how much the fans engaged with the talents was exceptional. I couldn't say I was surprised but I still felt a rousing spirit in seeing how deeply moved everyone was being able to engage with their passion. There was an absolutely electric female hime fan going all out immediately infront of me and a frail person in a maid outfit with long black twin tails that slid into my buffer seat beside me right when the concert began. It was the same seat from the opening and a big late group of super fans showed up and loaded up the seats on the otherside of me with all their gear and went full ape on their feet behind me the entire concert. It was excellent they knew all the call and response and at one point one of them broke out a gong directly beside my head. Really incredible live performance atmosphere to be a part of for Lia's big convention. After that I did a short circuit to check out the maid cafe and narrowly avoided Panko(!) robot interviewing a fan. Afterwards I went up to my room and passed out and got too deep into my psychosis and blew off my plans for the rest of the night thinking that the space I would have occupied at any of the further of events would have been better suited for those who were truly passionate about the talents involved. I made some plans to try and stick it out through Day 2 but was so dejected with myself (and other outside life complications) that I left my room before the sun came up. Watching those two coyotes tearing into the bright pink meat of that black cat brought a strange sense of closure to it all. I like lia.

>>112702954 >>112703409 after listening to it a few times, i also interpret the entire theme relating to sakana and how his company reached the top of the mountain (not jerking fishfag off, but gotta render unto chinese Caesar the things that are chinese Caesar's)
the chorus speaks of showing no mercy or acts of retreat, and not apologizing for ambitions. >what's a king to a god? i've got everything you want Self explanatory. He's got it all. >my hunger is insatiable. i want to taste things that are unattainable He was originally gatekept out of vtubing by tsunderia and throughout the journey to get here, he has achieved things for his group that otherwise were viewed as unattainable and not meant for small corpos. Whether it getting them in retail games, concerts at ANYC, the big performance, the convention itself etc >to eat -or- to be eaten is the circle of life One by one every small corpo died and their corpses got eaten by his. It really is eat -or- be eaten. >it just feels so good to be bad. and if this is wrong then I don't wanna be right, cause I've been living one damn hell of a life Maybe acknowledging the unsavory truth that his group got to where it got by breaking every rule in the book and not doing it the "traditional" way. Whether it be unsavory content from early days, not stopping the doxnigger part of the fanbase, the poaching, relying on a large foundation of right wing fans at a critical time >why should I care about their disciplines, when real winners know life is paid to sin Another self explanatory verse. He won.
Just a fascinating original song for a 5th anniversary.
>>112704541 This is something that is commonly accepted at these burgeoning degrees of success on an intrinsically esoteric kind of medium. There has to be layers to the song and Kevin has tapped into a very particular kind of signal with his inclusions of the what's a King to a God? lyrical allusion. The cockney rhyming conclusion of this inclusion is necessarily "WHATS A GOD TO A NON-BELIEVER" basically tearing down the foundations of the early industry as a testament in his belief in his own ability over the establishment. It's a very clever deep cut to co-opt this kind of Illuminati posturing to his "victory lap" production.

>>112704467 >Watching those two coyotes tearing into the bright pink meat of that black cat brought a strange sense of closure to it all. I like lia. also ties into their new original song >eat or be eaten it's the circle of life
>>112704541 >>112704681 >>112704697 I've touched on topics regarding vtubing as an industry and it's parallels to broader Japanese cultural phenomenon of hikikimori condition and "Little Sister" industries of exposure therapy for extreme social recluses. The psychosocial control mechanism of modern streaming culture is obviously at a niche modulation in this kind of demographic but the capacity for violence, not necessarily physical, in the posturing and claim of market share provides a hidden edge to all of it's activity. This is something that is necessarily coded into the treachery of kayfabe surrounding the mere acknowledgement of the characters. It's one of the reasons I dislike Shiina so much. I could schizo out at length about various secondary topics regarding the mechanisms and psychological ploys that come into play in these types of exchanges but the bittersweet taste of sickness from it all has to remain in that this is something that not only do most of them just naturally "get" but something that they actively hone. I still remember I was jaw dropped shocked the first time I heard Apotasty. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LN35zu145kI
I've been mentally going over the concept of "cat houses" lately and will have to think about how this further plays into that conception. I've said it before but the most... exciting... part of watching vtubers is in the more pointed examination of seeing a "captive" "predator" performing.
