when did you realise it was over?
for me it was when that episode came out where sideshow bob repeatedly steps on rakes.
the whole episode was really jarring, a complete tonal shift.
no idea what it's like now, haven't watched it for many, many years.

nta. there are still some good episodes in the later seasons but they're so far and few. for every "Pixelated and Afraid" (episodes that are decent and reminiscent of older seasons) there's 100 "Lisa Meets Gaga" complete shit mindnumbingly awful episodes that make you wonder who the hell greenlit it.

For me the Simpsons ended when Bart ate the watermelon. I stopped watching after that, it was all downhill. Season 11 I believe.

cape feare is one of the best episodes, easily top 10, and there are so many great episodes between it and season 10 (when the simpsons actually died, specifically for me it was episode 5, where homer befriends kim basinger and alec baldwin)
